Lightening strikes 2 more homes Pennecamp

I don't know what the deal is but 2 more homes were hit by lightening in the storm around 5:30 yesterday on Markridge Loop in Pennecamp. This is in addition to the homes that were hit the night before. In this strike one home lost their AC and garage door opener and the other home lost 2 TVs. Two separate electrical companies were here and a rep from SECO (because homes had whole house surge protectors) and it was determined that it was a ground hit (again) to water, not direct hit to homes. Lightening rods would be of no use they said. That has been the consensus now of 3 electricians and SECO. We, as neighbors, are busy checking out snowbird's homes for any damage and notifying their home caretakers.

Saying that lightening hit the homes is somewhat misleading even though explained later. It sounds like the homes were affected by a surge caused by a strike nearby. Lightning rods don't protect against surge. One strike nearby could affect several homes as described.
