Is there any organizations or groups here in TV that are able to answer questions regarding social security? Or do you just have to go to the social security office in Leesburg?

Depends on the question. Medicare (and only Medicare) questions should go to SHINE (see Rec News tomorrow for their schedule). For other stuff, you can access your account online and see things like how much money you will get depending on when (age) you apply. Otherwise, you probably need to go visit the folks in Leesburg.

If you call ahead and make an appt. in Leesburg, they are pretty good at helping you.

I went to the Leesburg office several months ago. They were very efficient and nice, solved my problem. One of the staff even called my home several days later to let me know that things went ok. I thought they did a great job.

I second going to Leesburg. But do call and make an appointment. Otherwise the wait will be an hour or so.

I have found calling the social security office main number after 5:30 PM, gets you a quick solution, by asking all your question in the comfort of your home. They are open to 8 PM, and you usually answer a few questions and then, you are able to talk to a rep. No fuss and muss..........1-800-772-1213.
Trying to contact social security during the day, will have you on hold, for about an hour or so. Just sayin.............

The appointment is the way to go. The "walk in " traffic is incredible if you do not have a appt. They were very caring and compassionate .
