I heard this strange noise tonight and it was a truck going down the street spraying a chemical? Can I get a schedule of when this vehicle will be in our neighborhood? I want to be inside when it shows up again. Thanks. :)

We were out walking at dusk in our neighborhood over the winter and had the same thing happen. We had no idea what the noise was until we saw the truck/trailer and the mist being sprayed out. We quickly walked home, but you could smell the insecticide and I'm sure we inhaled some as well. I agree, it would be nice to have a spray schedule so folks know to stay inside.

Here is a Sumter County schedule:

Just monitor the county website.

IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE INSIDE.....yes, you will inhale it while spraying but what THEY DON'T TELL you is the impact of these chemicals on respiratory airways.....mosquito pesticides need to be scaled down!!!....Bugs do NOT cause cancer!

So, ALL aerosol pesticides cause cancer in humans?

Bugs may not cause cancer but mosquitoes carry viruses that can kill you much faster than any cancer. Let's not over-react. If you have concerns, try talking to someone at Sumter County. They do the spraying.

Here is the MSDS on the adult mosquito spray that Sumter uses.

I have actually had dengue fever, and I'll take my chances with the mosquitoes over the spray anyday!!

Remember as a kid living in St Louis and we used to ride our bikes right behind the fogging truck. Riding in and out of the fog.
