They still have enough sense not to have their left knee hanging out the side of the golf cart as oncoming carts pass...

They still have enough courtesy to wait for their turn...

They go down to the square every night of the week...

kathymar528
06-14-2014, 11:08 AM
They ask about the difference between an executive course and a championship course.
They go to the squares most every night.
They read the Rec News from cover to cover each week looking for an activity to join.
Furniture trucks make daily deliveries to their home.
They are anxious to share their story of 'how they got to The Villages' with anyone who will listen!
They pray someone else in their foursome steps forward to reserve the tee times, because it's overwhelming the first time you do it.

If it sounds like I speak from experience, well...

Vladimir

I'm kinda new.

I always ask Villagers: "How long have you lived here?" Followed by: "Aren't you tired of it yet?" I know that they're going to say no, but I'm always entertained by HOW they say it. It's a great conversation starter.

Gillies, be very careful whether to get gutters. We are on clay, which does not drain well and compacts easily.
The two downspouts from my neighbor's gutters pour out such a torrent into an area between our houses where a riding mower is used, that the combined compaction and erosion have caused ruts and holes where grass would otherwise have grown.

Yes, check your soil out first. We in our part of Tamarind Grove all have gutters (mainly to keep rain from splashing into the lanai and staining the driveway), but we have no drainage problems.

We are closing on our house on the 24th of this month and are guilty of all these things (except our slow moving, white, Yamaha gas golf car had a sunbrella - but we didn't know what it was at the time). But there is one truly marvelous thing no one has mentioned. The fact that we can insist to our 21 year old son that he can't swim in the adult pools!

Newcomers will likely ask where people go if there is a tornado warning since there are no basements here!

Newcomers will likely be staring at the beautiful clouds and taking pictures of them on a daily basis (hope I always remain a newcomer in that respect)!

Newcomers will likely ask where they can take the excess "stuff" from up north that they HAD to bring with them!

Newcomers will likely trade their gas-guzzling SUV for a more efficient car!

Your turn.

I have been in the villages for over 3 years now, and have been appalled at the way some Villagers dress to go out to dinner at nice restaurants & country clubs, concerts at Savannah Center, & even church. Ladies usually look very nice, but it's time to clean out hubby's closet & get him some new shorts & shirts that match that don't look like they belong at the nearest Salvation Army store! I think the newer resident's are bucking the trend to wear "anything anywhere", and are improving the image of TV overall.

Oh My Thank you Gracie for this thread. I will be a newbie the end of July and I have to admit when we were on the Lifestyle preview we did a lot of those things. We still have the grin on our faces every time we talk about TV to our friends. We tell them they have to come to TV because you can't explain that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you are in TV. The people are amazing. It is the most beautiful place and we want to be a part of it. I never thought I would leave Ca. I am a native and never lived anywhere else.

I still can't believe we will be frogs soon. We are tired because of all the packing. We have 46 years of stuff to sort out. I just keep looking at the end result knowing it is worth all the craziness in our life right now.
