In the article's pictures, there's not enough of the roof left to see whether there were lightning rods. The roof of the house next door does not appear to have them. Does anyone know if the burnt house had them???

The article says "An RV camper with a propane tank, which was parked in the home’s garage, exploded during the fire." So even though the house did not have gas lines in the attic, gas apparently was an issue in this fire.

Does anyone know if the homes that were recently struck by lightning had lightning rods installed on their homes?I might be wrong, but I think only one house was hit by lightning. It was destroyed by the fire. Several other lightning strikes occurred on the ground between homes. They sustained damage to electrical devices. Big difference.

Thanks "T", Based on the info provided I'm now going to start another thread to get recommendations on installers that our neighbors have used in the past. This is pretty major protection and we want to make sure it's done right.
