One of the most consistent great hitters in baseball history. Also, a multiple gold glove winner. Mr. Padre will be missed by all true baseball fans.

My wife and I worked the Hall of fame ceremonies when he and Cal were inducted-A day we will never forget-such a shame at his age-he was an excellent speaker as well as ball player.

God rest your good soul, Tony. What a walking value system! A hitter's hitter, Gold glove, chose to remain with his Padres and not 'test the f.a. waters.' What fortunate people in SD to have the right to call this idol and throwback their own.

Baseball heaven just gained a big, bright star.

Farewell Tony. Thank you for the joy you brought to the game.

He was a class act at a time there was a lot of greed and little class.

Also was a great college point guard at SDSU. I think his career assist record was only recently broken.

I agree. He was one of my favorite players of all time. Great hitter and a class guy.

RIP - Tony

I was wondering if anyone knew if he had gotten cancer from chewing tobacco?

Nephew used to chew tobacco, and was told to stop, after a doctor visit. Thankfully, he gave it up.
