A black market for Viagra? Any man who needs it can get it from their doctor and cost practically nothing (so I am told).

10 women for every man? I am very happy with my one!

Swinger's scene? Not among my group of friends. All of us are monogamous (to my knowledge).

These things were all written in that stupid book called Leisureville where the author was a young jealous ignorant man.

If it does bother you, though, you can make a nice profit on your home when you move.

That's all we kept hearing about when we'd mention where we were moving. If people knew of TV's they'd always raise an eyebrow and brought up the swingers thing. I have never (knowingly) met any and as long as they keep to themselves, big deal. It's none of my business and I'd like to keep it that way!

This is a disgusting article. I have nice friends. I feel bad for the woman that was caught. She must be a very unhappy person. She needs help. No one is above her. My heart goes out to her and her family.

When one writes an article it can be slanted anyway the writer wants. People are people wherever they live.

What about the boy toy?

The problem that I have with the boy toy is that if it was the other way around no one would call her a girl toy. A gentleman would not let it come to all that. Morals have gone down the toilet.

Just think, if people would just stay with one person in a committed relationship, so many problems would never happen.

I read this article after it was posted to Facebook by "The Villages Florida Book" My wife and I have been to The Villages many times over the past 10 years as we have always planned on moving there. 10 to 1 women, smoking pot on the squares, sex in the open, etc etc. We have never witnessed any of that in all the visits we have made. As someone else said, you don't need a black market in Viagra, just ask the doctor for it ! This article seems so chockful of untruths I don't know how it could ever be published or believed by anyone.

I believe they call women in the role of "boy toy" trophy wives. Not sure any of this applies to the woman caught romancing on the Squares. Do we know that this was not her boyfriend? They were probably both drunk and in no shape to drive home so they found the next best thing to a bed?

This article is disgusting, as is the whole situation of "Peggy" having sex at the square. People from TV are even making it worse by naming a drink "in her honor" and saying she will get a standing ovation when she comes in the next time. I hope she has learned her lesson and will get help for addiction to alcohol and bad judgement. The people mentioned here are not to be honored, and I sincerely hope they are the minority I think they are. I don't do the bar hopping, so I don't expose myself to these Villagers. The Villagers I have met have been nice adults who acted like nice adults. Think about it, would you want an article lke this written about where your kids lived, or even your parents for that matter. And for them to have the kind of role models mentioned in this article????? You can flame me all you want, but you won't make me change my mind about the type of people written about in this article. They are not the Villagers I know, and I don't think they are anywhere near the majority of people here like it implies.

The article is full of misrepresentations. The author probably had to talk to a LOT of people to get the quotes she wanted for her slanted story.

Just for my edification . . . what was the last couple of paragraphs about? Was it something that happened in TV or was it a cut and paste accident?

Of course the article is written to get the readers interest but i don't think anything is overblown that the writer writes. She actually spent time here interviewing and observing the bar scene. Most villagers don't know the bar scene because they are home by 9 pm. With over 100,000 residents you are going to have every possible senario. Like most residents i am an older married folk but i have friends who are single and they tell me women are very aggressive after 9pm of course.

It's a long article.

I also was sent that article , by several people.......obviously, the news gets around.

Since we've never hung out in bars, and no doubt never will, it doesn't concern us.......but I have heard from some old retired hunting buddies of my husband (townies up here) who do LOVE your "happy hours" in the squares. They retired to towns within driving distance to T.V. These aren't people we were "friends" with........just happened to hunt at the same hunting camp each November..........so my take is that most of those mentioned in the article probably don't even live in T.V.

If they went to bars in their past lives, they will seek them out and all that goes with it.....in their retirement years.

In N.J. we couldn't drink until we were 21 years old, so the habit never took hold as a serious "hobby" of ours. Even now, we have bottles in our liquor collection that are over twenty years old.........that's how often we drink. The younger set now , when they visit us, might accept one bottle of Sam Adams beer........and that's it.......or none at all. I like to make ice tea, personally.

As my long departed mother in law used to say, "Nothing good happens after 9 p.m. at night......and especially NOT in taverns". She would tell us that at 17, as if we'd be going to a tavern. ha ha.

Rocketman, I'm not singling you out but you beat me to the punch on my thoughts. I DO hang out with the after 9pm crowd, and I think all these crazy comments are nonsense. We do have a great deal of fun after 9pm, good clean fun, and everyone acts like well-behaved oldsters. Just last night, I was commenting during our usual Monday night karaoke event at Bonifay, how much fun we have as old folks. No one would believe that any of us are over 55, and some of us are well into our 60's and over. Having a blast, dancing and singing and just having lots of good conversation and fun with our friends, and not having to sit home and watch TV like old folks usually do. (not picking on those who prefer to watch TV).

Hey, people love to read such trash stories that only have a hint of truth. Look at the stories printed at the checkout next time you go grocery shopping. People spend good money for such newspapers.

After what happen on the Square a couple weeks ago, this is not unexpected. I'm all for having fun but some do take it to the extreme. "You can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life.". Anonymous

I think one reason that TV gets all of the sensationalized reports is that young people just don't understand us older folks. Younger people cant imagine that older folks might still like to go dancing and still have sex. They can't imagine single older folks wanting to date. They mostly think we seniors should be sitting on the couch reading to toddlers. Oh, and of course baby sitting for them. So any indication that we might still have some fun in our lives is unfathomable.

Additionally I find the photos attached to the article very disturbing. I do not know the women pictured dancing at the square but see them there often. I am certain that they are not a part of the unseemly activities reported in the article. If that had been my photograph, I would be mortified and making some serious fuss about using my unauthorized image.

That seemed to be Andrew Blechman's problem with the Villages too when you get right down to it. He wanted the grandfathers and grandmothers to stay in their original home towns and take care of the grandkids and contribute further to their old communities. Many people volunteer in all kinds of capacities here in and around the Villages. http://www.andrewblechman.com/index.html

It's a long article.

The London Daily Mail is the European equivalent of The National Enquirer. Next thing you know they will have "Alien Baby Born to Villages Woman Who Is Cheating on Her Comatose Husband With President Obama" or some nonsense like that. I had a friend send me the article too, and they believed all the ridiculous claims. Its not true, but it hurts our community and is embarassing for us all. People believe this sort of stuff because they want to. It gives their lives some excitement, and many people like to tear down those things that they long for but do not have, like The Villages. We have no choice but to ignore it, and keep living the friendly, wholesome, and productive lives that we live here in TV. And we can stop buying ridiculous tabloid papers. It would be nice if the developer or one or both of the Homeowners Associations would write an article for release that tells the truth about this community, but that also might just stir the fire. We know what we are, and we'll probably have to be satisfied with that.

I do look at the grocery check-out counter rags but have never bought one. And I doubt if many people believe what is in them, they just look at them for a laugh. I do feel compassion for the people targeted by these "journalists" though. And, this type of press has been going on since cave paintings or drawings on Roman Walls making fun of the latest emperor's antics.

The best thing would be for the Morses to just be quiet about this negative publicity. They get good publicity quite often. I seem to see The Villages ads on most golf tournament telecasts.

I share your feelings of sorrow for the woman Happyliz, but I think there must be consequences for lewd and unacceptable behavior or else it (or worse) just happens again. And drinking can not be used as an excuse for breaking the law, or conducting oneself in a manner that shocks the conscience of our community. I think the cops did the right thing.

Most people that I've talked to are more than a bit surprised that they were arrested and booked. The conclusion most are drawing is that the police went hard on her because of her past DUIs, one of which she was on probation for, or that one or both of them gave the officers a bad time.

Sometimes if the police have dealt with someone on multiple occasions, they will not let them get off as easy as someone who they have never net before.

I'm that one thing in the article is true, although probably not to the extent that it's author would like us to believe is that this has happened before in the Villages. I actually witness it happening at about 10:00 at night on a golf cart about a year ago. It was in a much more secluded place however. I'm fairly confident that the police that run into it before and simply told the participants to pull up their pants and be on their way, along with a stern, "and don't let me find you doing this again or I'll take you in."

Come to think of it, maybe this wasn't the first time that one of them was caught in the act. Who knows, but something had to happen for the police to throw the book at them like this.

I didn't open your link to read it BUT what your post (I'm speaking to the OP here) it sounds like a post that a friend of mine (who lives just outside of T.V.) sent to me. It was pretty negative in my opinion and doesn't exhibit anything that I've observed or experienced here. I'm sure though, there's a faction (and a small one at that) who all this applies to. That said, in any city or town you'll find debauchery. I deleted the post but not without sending a comment to my friend telling her the same things I'm posting here. Her article was from a Tampa newspaper and really it could have angered me as that reporter didn't do "due diligence" to report on the broader citizenship here!!

Good points. I too wondered why the police picked up this couple this time.

The names of the trial of this woman seem like something out of a Saturday Night Live or MadTV skit. Judge Joe Skidmore, Defense Lawyer Joseph Indelicato, and Prosecutor Tina Smith. Have to have a normal name like Tina Smith in there. And, the potential jury members will probably be put in the same jury room with the coffee pot that sounds like a moaning dog. At least, it sounds like that on Monday mornings. I had Jury Duty in Sumter County on May 19, 2014.

This is a disgusting article. I have nice friends. I feel bad for the woman that was caught. She must be a very unhappy person. She needs help. No one is above her. My heart goes out to her and her family.

When one writes an article it can be slanted anyway the writer wants. People are people wherever they live.

Welllll, LOL, she was horny and hot and booze makes you make stupid choices. Maybe it was a dare. This article is really biased and cheaply written based on what really happened. 20 years her junior is really not unusual. Look at all those old farts that are married to younger women. If she needs help, then a lot of these women need help too. I just feel bad for her and the shame she may now feel.

I don't get why you all are embaressed by someone else's behavior. When you get the emails and comments just laugh and say "Yeah, isn't that something?"

This is all about age-ism, if it was a 28 year old sales agent with a 22 year old waiter would it have been as shocking?

I agree. While I don't condone sex in a public place the unique angle of this story is only that it involved older citizens. When I mention The Villages to friends up north and ask if they have heard of it they think it is an outdoor assisted living community. I would chose the active and naughty image over that image.

Deborah Kerr and Bert Lancaster in "From Here To Eternity".

Cybill Shepherd and Charles Grodin in "The Heartbreak Kid".

Both were excellent movies.

I'll bet dollars to donuts sex in public places occurs frequently all around The Villages. These folks just got caught and the woman, at least, had priors. To me it is no more news than someone joining the 30,000 ft. club.

Actually, this looks like a pretty good very conservative newspaper. Daily Mail - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail)

Check out a lot of the other stories in it as well as the columnists. It is not a grocery aisle tabloid but nor a Time, Newsweek or US News and World Report.

And, the act occurs in many large cities, small towns, and middle America in public places too. It isn't just The Villages that has older men/younger woman, older woman/younger men and any combination you can imagine and it simply doesn't hit the press.

Actually there are numerous stories about couples making stupid choices and getting arrested for indecent exposure or whatever charges were made against them.

There is a story about a randy Dutch couple going at it on top of a police car. Evidently the only crime was interrupted the officer's going about his official business. There are a lot more of these but they are a bit under the decency standard of TOTV.

Another quote from Wikipedia:

Tabloid journalism is a style of journalism that tends to emphasize topics such as sensational crime stories, astrology, gossip columns about the personal lives of celebrities and sports stars, and junk food news.

Often, tabloid newspaper allegations about the sexual practices, drug use, or private conduct of celebrities is borderline defamatory; in many cases, celebrities have successfully sued for libel, demonstrating that tabloid stories have defamed them. It is this sense of the word that led to some entertainment news programs to be called tabloid television.

The Daily Mail has had a few successful libel suits against it. Daily Mail - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail)

It looks like the various European national dailies. I cannot really think of an American (US) daily that is quite the same.

Don't forget the weird news article in May when a Tennessee man was arrested for having sex with an ATM machine. That was the topic of quite a few jokes for the late night talk show hosts.

USAToday actually picked that one up. Man held after attempting sex with ATM, picnic table (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/05/20/man-arrested-sex-attempt-atm-picnic-table/9315677/)

There are a lot of stories like that one.

This thread is no longer about The Villages.
It seems to be about sexual misdeeds in Tennessee and having sex with ATM machines.
You boys need to start a new thread where you can laugh about this stuff.
Maybe call it "Deviant Sexual Practices".
