Does anyone know why there aren't any flamingos in The Villages? I think that there are some in Orlando, it would be wonderful to possibly import some from southern Florida for our enjoyment.

Could be a deed restriction keeping them out.

The foods they eat are not in abundance here. We have small fish and invertebrates, but no brine shrimp or abundance of blue green algae in our waters.
They filter through the silt in mangroves and coastal areas to find their food.
I love Flamingos, but would rather they be allowed to remain in their natural habitat.

We don't see flamingos in The Villages for the same reason that we don't see Elk or Moose here. --- It is not the proper environment for them to flourish.
Other posters have already discussed what they need in terms of food and shelter. It isn't available here.
If the developer wanted to spend the money, we could have a "tourist attraction" area for flamingos, as we once did for Buffalo. but that seems unlikely.

If flamingos were here, someone would probably complain about them.

I see flamingos every day! One of our neighbors has several of them in her yard. Some of them even bob their heads up and down with the wind. I call this neighbor "The Flamingo Lady".
