I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas. We visited TV in May and fell in love with it. We put our house on the market and we sold it this last week. We are in escrow and should close in 45 days. We have a house in Lake Deaton we are interested in and should get the paperwork started tomorrow.

We have so much to do but I know it will be so worth it. I am dreading the drive from Ca. with a screaming cat but then I think of the lifestyle we will driving to and I get so excited. I can't wait to see you all.

It is official we have a house in TV. We will be in Lake Deaton on Quietwoods Dr. We have only seen pictures which is totally weird but I know it will be fine. Now I am researching moving companies. When I am tired of packing I come to TOTV to give me a jump start. I can't wait to be back in TV enjoying the lifestyle there. I am trying to keep positive. One day at a time and we will be there before we know it.

Congrats on sale and new purchase! You're in for some stress and then a lot of fun.

If your cat is typical, it will settle down within an hour or two and then be fine for the rest of the trip. I drove here with three cats -- one of whom was so bad that she would poop about 30 seconds after the car engine was started. I did give her half a tranquilizer the first leg of our journey. After that, she was very happy to sit on my daughter's lap in her halter and look out the window.

Congratulations and good luck. You may already know this but do not pay a mover anything up front. Be sure to check them out online before you hire them and be sure to get estimates in person...they come to your house and see what you have. We prefer 2 Men and a Truck. They really protect your belongings and they are polite and patient. We did not realize that there are scammers in the moving business.

I "hear" the excitement in your posts! God bless you on your travels.

While we are part timers, each and every time we go to our forever home it gets harder to leave. We do know in time we will be home forever.

TV is an incredible place.

Woohoo another day closer to being in TV.

Cathy I never thought I would live Ca. I am a native and have never lived anywhere else, but once I saw TV I knew that was the place I want to spend my retire days.

Thank you Blessed2bntv I bet it is hard to leave TV. I know it was hard for us to leave after only 5 days there. Our town only has one grocery store and one golf course so I know we will feel like we are in heaven. I can't wait to be back in the Brownwood and other centers for the entertainment.

I can't wait to teach the TVer's how to play push poker.

patfla06 congratulation on your move in. We are making process with packing. I keep telling myself it is worth all the work. Packed up the garage stuff today. I know we have packed to much stuff but figured it wasn't worth arguing with my husband over some of his garage stuff and I am sure he will feel the same way about my kitchen things.

One day at a time and we will be there before we know it.

We came down to close on our home in May and then had to return home until September. I can't wait to get back! It's hard to explain how much fun running everyday errands in a golf cart is to anyone who hasn't done it! Met the nicest people at the Paradise dog park and the Hilltop pool. This is just going to be a great chapter of our lives!

Congratulations! Know how you feel. We returned home to Georgia after our 3rd visit to TV this past week. We put our home on the market this morning. Hopeful we can get a new home before they sell out. We also are looking in the Lake Deaton area. Hope to see everyone real soon.

My husband and I have been in our home in Lake Deaton for a week now. For those of you who have bought or considering a home in this area, you will love the location - very close to Brownwood and not that far from Lake Sumter. There is an email list so that you can be made aware of activities planned for the villagers in Lake Deaton. PM me if you'd like the email address so that your name could be added. Hope to meet many of you when you're here!

It must be universal with husbands bringing the entire garage!
Mine got so touchy whenever I asked what he was purging from the
garage ( tools he hasn't used since we moved from N.J.)
I was the same way with the kitchen stuff.

Can't wait for you to get here. Since I've been living through all of this with you, I feel so excited and remember how impatient I was to get to TV back in '08. You will be so happy, it will all be worth it.

Ask your vet about a small tranquilizer for your cat. I gave a 1/2 of one to one of my dogs who wasn't a good traveler, and I never had to give him another throughout the whole 3000 mile trip. I'm sure they can suggest something. But as Redwitch says, it may settle down after only a day on the road.

Hurry, hurry, hurry, can't wait for you to get here!!!!

Hi All,

Packing sucks. I am to the last stages of choosing a moving company and I need to do it quickly since my husband is now wanting to rent a U-Haul. I want to extra help with loading and unloading. It's 110 here and will probably be hotter the end of July.

Kathie I am so looking forward to being there soon. I hope you will be all moved in when we get there. 3000 miles is a scary thought. Well we won't be that far since we are in Blythe. Every mile closer is a big deal.

Thanks for all the friendly comments.

patflo06 he has 3 tool boxes he is bringing. How many screwdrivers do you need? His packing and mine is so different. I will be so ready for happy hour in TV once we get there.

Well once we are in TV we will be fulltime frogs.

See ya all soon.

Welcome!! We're in the middle of the similar move. We came here to visit in January, and after a long and thoughtful discussion about how we really wanted to spend and ENJOY our retirement decided this was the place for us. It didn't hurt that I already had a sister here and two more planning to come as well. We returned from our trip, talked over our decision with our kids and began thinning out in preparation to get our house on the market. We were stunned when our house sold in less than 24 hours and immediately had to plan our move, beginning with leasing a CYV here for three months to give us time to find our house.

We found it in Dunedin, after a hectic three weeks of searching and will close mid next month! Now we are finally settling back and enjoying ourselves on this trip-- and oh by the way we ditched all our furniture as we planned to start over here. That was rather funny working with our move coordinator as our load estimates kept dropping from almost 15k lbs to a final 4.7 lbs.

Hi Kathy - Good luck with all the moving preparations! It will be worth all the hard work once you arrive at your new home in The Villages. We've been here only two weeks and love it all so much already. Looking forward to meeting you once you get here. Have a safe and pleasant ride to Florida!

Please make sure your cat has current ID with your cell # attached to her harness. For the trip and for the week or two after you arrive. Cats have a way of escaping from new houses, they're tricky little critters.

I'll be making a long trip from New Hampshire in January with my cat. She does not travel well at all. I've taken her on airplanes from Europe and Lebanon. She HOWLED (not cried, howled) for the WHOLE TRIP (8 or 9 hours) and that is with tranquilizers. She fights against their sleeping agent and wins. You think people stare at you with crying children, try a screaming, howling cat. Not looking foward to driving 3 days with her. Mom will be along to try to keep her calm. Still can't wait, so looking forward to it.

I can't believe we are here in TV now. The cat did great. He usually howls when we drive in the car but it was as if he was drugged. He was so good. He now has to adjust to being an indoor cat. The first thing we bought was a new cat tree for him. He is the only one that has furniture. The second purchase was a coffee pot. We found out yesterday that our furniture and stuff hasn't even left Ca. yet. Not happy about it but what can you do. Today was busy buying some furniture that will be delivered on Monday.

Hope to see you in Jan. I hope your cat will be as good as ours was.

Glad you made it. My cat has always been an indoor cat, so at least I don't have to worry about that. I'm trying to figure out how to handle the drive down with the delivery of my furniture also. Thinking I may rent a house for a week or so because I will have my 84 year old mother with me and don't thing she'll be very happy about "camping out" in the middle of the living room. Oh well, it will all work out in the end, just so glad to have these types of problems. Good luck.

Will only one more day of sleeping on the floor. Mattress delivery tomorrow. Even if the mattress is not perfect it will be so much better than what we have. Still loving it here even with the little bumps in the road we have now it will be all worth it.
