This movie does not seem to be getting very good reviews. I would be really interested in what TOTVers think of it. I have not seen the play of the same name.

Being the big fan of The Four Season I was, I was disappointed in the singing voice of the guy who played Frankie Valli. I am only going by the trailers I've seen but there must be someone else who could have been a better choice. I saw Jersey Boys on Broadway and was happy with the play and I assume the movie is a takeoff of that play. Just wish the singing voice was better. But I shouldn't complain until I see the movie. To be continued....

My wife and I saw Jersey Boys on stage in Hartford CT 1.5 years ago and loved it. Singing and acting was excellent.

Haven't seen the movie version.

We did see Frankie Vallie and the 4 Seasons in Concert back in the mid-70's. One of our favorite concerts we attended :)

John Lloyd Young plays Frankie Valli in the film. He won the Tony Award for this role in the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys. So glad that Clint Eastwood had the good sense to choose someone actually qualified to sing this difficult role. Hollywood has a bad habit of going for a "Name" instead of a "Talent." I still cringe when I think about what Gerard Butler did to the Phantom of the Opera.

RottenTomatoes has an audience poll too of what they thought of the picture. I know I have found some movies that the critics really loved but the audiences hated.

Spot on!

I noticed the voice quality during a trailer at the theater and mentioned it to my wife. We had just seen the Broadway play a year and a half ago and were very excited about an Eastwood movie version.

Full disclosure- I have not seen the film- but those song trailers are weak!

Rotten Tomatoes ratings will be interesting to watch when it comes out tomorrow. I bet it moves up....hopefully a lot. I really WANT it to be good.

Haven't seen the movie yet but I think this will be an audience darling, and the critics doing their usual thing, when a movie doesn't meet their standards.

I will see it with when it get to TV as I love Clint Eastwood as a director, and actor, and he doesn't put out junk. I also love the Four Seasons music.

I love movie where you don't have to strain, to understand was is going on, as far as a plot. Not enjoyable. Give me a popcorn movie anytime. :smiley:

Frankie Valli (born 3 May 1934 in the Italian First Ward of Newark, New Jersey, USA as Francis Stephen Castelluccio) is best known as lead singer of The Four Seasons, one of the biggest music acts of the 1960s, which continued from then to the 1970s disco scene to the present day.

Valli scored over 25 Top-40 hits with The Four Seasons, a handful of Top-40 hits dubbed as a solo act in the late 1960s, one dubbed as The Wonder Who? in 1965, and again in the mid to late 1970s. His best known “solo” single is Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with The Four Seasons in 1990.

People tend to forget what a great song writer keyboard player Bob Gaudio was. Not sure if Gaudio is in the Song Writing Hall Of Fame, but if not, he belongs. The Seasons would have not gotten too far with Gaudio and in the early days, producer bob Crew's writing abilities.

We just saw this movie this afternoon It was so good. I saw the show on broadway and the movie holds up great. You cant help but sing as you are leaving.

We saw the movie tonight and really enjoyed it. I felt that John Lloyd Young was excellent in the part. I saw it on Broadway and in Chicago. You leave the theater singing the songs. Very we'll done.

The critics got this one wrong. Saw the Broadway show. Saw Frankie Valli live in PA a few years ago. Saw the movie. It was different than the play but equally as good. I wonder about the age of most of these critics? 30? 40? They would not have a clue. I also lived in Jersey and Brooklyn. It took me home.

We just got home from seeing the movie. We both really liked it. At first I wasn't sure about Frankie's voice but I think it was part of the role of finding himself. I thought the part when they showed the credits was fun and people left the movie with a bounce in their steps. I would go again.

Sounds like the Villages Entertainment Division or whoever schedules which movies open and where here made the right choice by having this open at the Rialto, Old Mill Playhouse, and Barnstorm Theaters. :popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

We saw the 1:00 showing in Brownwood today. So-ooo glad we did!

When we left the theater, the waiting line for the next showing was lonnng.

A neighbor and I went this afternoon to the 1:10 (about) showing in Brownwood. We loved it!
