Warning for sellers

I received the following reply to my sales post today! This is obviously a scam. ADMIN please change back to the old sale methods. This would have never happened with the "old"system.

I also received this notice. I removed my items from the site. I thought our emails were private. How did this person get mine??? I am very unhappy about this but don't know how to reach the appropriate person to report it.:grumpy:

I warned the admin that this may happen and it has. Please go back to the old way. I will not list until it is changed. On top of that I haven't been able to contact the seller on three different items. Don't know what's going on.

i got the same message on something I have on sale too! I contacted the admin and hope we get it squared away quickly - I agree that we should go back to the old format.

Thank you all for reporting this suspicious activity. I sent Admin an email to alert him, but, I believe it is not a problem with the new classifieds.

Here's what I think happened...

A new member, Mr Adams, registered on the site today. He went thru the Classified posts and sent PM/contact to a number of you who have items for sale. His message, as you see, is total spam/fraud. That account has been restricted from further posting until admin gets in and bans it completely. In the meantime, ignore any PMs from him.

He sent you a PM via the site. He did not have access to your email address. You might have received an email from TOTV alerting you to a PM, but, be assured, that individual does not have your email address. This person happened to choose classified posts...he could as easily have picked posts about golf in the villages. There is NO problem with the new classified section.

We thank you for the prompt alert and reacted as quickly as the first of the Mods/admin saw it.

My Number 2 son, the wild one, used to respond to messages like this all the time.

While carefully avoiding giving the con man any information about himself he would string him along for weeks, assuring him that he was very interested in 1. Getting the million pounds from the bank in Nigeria, 2. Obtaining the shipment of money sequestered at the airport in the USA that only required paying an import fee to get release for delivery, or 3. Whatever obviously phony offer was being proffered.

Finally, my son would give the desired information, his bank, bank account number and on-line password. Strangely, it was always a Swiss Bank, the number did not exist, and because of that there was no need for a password.

When the con man came back and said that the information did not work, my son would explain that he was using the information that his keepers in the asylum had provided to him.

Let us clear up some confusion and mis-information. This has NOTHING to do with Panjo. Again, this has NOTHING to do with Panjo. To post or contact someone on Panjo you have to have a registered user account on TOTV. We have multiple spam filters in place to prevent spammers but sometimes they can still register. Once they register until we shut them down they can do things that cause confusion. This happens with or without Panjo in place. It has NOTHING to do with the new classified system Panjo.
