I have to lock up my parking brake to get the tail lights to go off. I saw where the bracket to the switch was bent, straightened it, but that did not correct it, photo one, the second photo i have 2 switches, same part # but one has threads the other is smooth., so if i replace this switch, does anyone know if this the culprit…….
One other thing….Neither if my spare switches when depressed "Clicks", is that normal?

No click is normal for a "momentary" switch.

I can understand a momentary switch would be used for stop lights, can there be two switches i should look for?

I really am not familiar with the circuit, but I assume that locking the brake initiates a timer that interrupts the circuit after a pre-determined amount of time. Based on your symptoms, I would suspect the brake switch is the culprit and is stuck in the closed position. Before replacing it, do a continuity test on the switch.
