Hello All,

Hubby and I are native Rhode Islanders on the 5-7 year path to retirement and looking very seriously into retiring to TV. I heard about TV in a Christmas card from a friend last year who relayed TV is where she and her hubby are planning to retire to, and thus began my own exploration and all I can say is WOW I think we are going too!!!

Looking forward to learning all about TV from this forum so thanks in advance for sharing your valuable info with us wannabees :)

Hi Nightengale212,
We did a lifestyle preview in May and we blown away. We came home Ca. put our house up for sale and it has sold. We are in escrow now and have bought a house sight unseen. We are counting the day until we are back in TV. I wish we had know about TV sooner so we could have been enjoying retirement the way all the Villagers do.

I would start planning now so when you do retire you can enjoy the lifestyle you deserve. it's hard to explain to people who haven't seen it. My family thinks we are crazy. I am a native Ca. girl and never thought I would move away from Ca. but then I had never seen anything like TV. Only one month until we will be in Florida.

Nightengale,

Welcome to TOTV. I am a wannabee of a few years standing. I have rented in TV several times in the past few years, and I hope to make TV my home someday when it is time for me to bid Chicago and Illinois goodbye. If you read and post questions on TOTV, it is a very valuable source of information about moving to and living in The Villages. You may want to explore taking a Lifestyle Preview Visit to The Villages at some point in the future to get a taste of what living in The Villages is like. :welcome:

You should contact the sales office and ask them to mail you the dvd and booklet you will learn so much from that, then come for the lifestyle.

Thanks all for your responses :) Does not surprise me there is a R.I. club and it is probably growing by leaps and bounds as Rhody is not a financially friendly state to retirees.

Yes, hubby and I are planning on taking a pilgrimage to TV probably early next spring. Although we are definitely not ready to buy, we really want to check out some CYVs as this time around we want as maintenance free as possible plus like the privacy these homes offer. By the time we are ready to buy TV will most likely be built out, so purchasing a resale is fine with us as I still have PTSD from building my house 20+ years ago.

Any hoo, as much as I would love to make the move to TV now, gotta get a few more years of ducks lined up, and in the interim will will try to savor the journey as much as the destination.

Once you visit, you will want to start your retirement right away.

No amount of words can decribe how beautiful this place is. You are just going to have to see for yourself.

If you can, I would consider renting for a month, as a LSV of three to 5 days, will go by in a blink of an eye. So much to see, and do.

Bring your checkbook. No sense fighting the enevitable. :D

Prices are only going to go up, so If you afford two homes for a short while, you might consider it. On the other hand carrying two homes can be a financial burden.
