We are new residents of The Villages. Our anniversary is on Sunday and we were thinking about going to Katie Belles. I am confused about both Katie Belles and the Cattle Baron Club. Can someone please explain about both? Which would you recommend? Are menus for dinner different for each? I know TOTV is the place for answers. Any information you can provide would be appreciated. P.S. We are loving our new life here as we knew we would!

0p, Cattle baron is upstairs and Katie Belles downstairs. Yes, they have different menus.

I like the food at both. Cattle Baron has a more upscale menu with some really good choices and a nice soup, bread & salad bar that comes with your meal.
There is nightly entertainment downstairs at Katie Belles. It can get loud and the dance floor can get packed. Fun if that's what you are looking to do.
You can hear the music upstairs but it's not too bad.
Upstairs they also have a balcony to people watch and enjoy a drink. The bar area is also very nice.

Cattle Baron advertises almost daily in the Daily Sun.

The Cattle Barron has the better servers, better overall ambiance, great salad bar, better menu. The Developer attempted years ago to make it a upscale Private Club for the rich and famous, but found out it was a bad idea, so went back and all Villagers are welcome….

I'd be careful of Katie Belle's. According to London's Daily Mail newspaper;

Katie Belles Music Hall is the epicenter of bad behaviour from 4pm when the early bird special meals start.

Do Both. It's your experience that counts........no one is you.

The Cattle Baron is a restaurant. I do not suggest that you go there for a special occasion. The food is not great.

Welcome to The Villages.and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to BuckeyeMom and Spouse..

:beer3:

In My Humble Opinion......

......The Cattle Baron / Katie Belle's has declined a lot in the past year.

Palmer or Lopez are much better for food, ambiance and dining experience.

I agree with the post to go to Arnold Palmer or Nancy Lopez. Food at Katie Belle''s and Cattle Barons is mediocre to say the least.

Katie Belles is OK for an OK meal, esp lunch - and bonus to listen to gratis live perf.
Cattle Baron's salad bar, soup, and bread bar is a nice bonus - their entrees are borderline for the price. But Specials can be appealing - esp the 9.99 Prime Rib (7oz), never been disappointed, and as mentioned, includes the salad/soup/bread bar.
But for an anniv/special occasion - pop for Palmer's, it's top shelf and tends to be a bit quieter. Lopez a second.

Happy Anniv!

Went to Katie bells with my husband and three adults sons
they sat us at a table for 6 and added a man to our table. He came in drunk and obnoxious loud
It was such a bad scene we had to leave without seeing the show and manager said there was nothing they could do for us since he also bought a ticket
We'll never go back!!

IMHO the only people who should get hooked into going to Katie Bells and Cattle Baron are newbies. Despite hearing constant complaints for the 8 years ab out both these places they have elect not to change one thing.

People usually go to KB for the music, shows, dancing, and to "people watch".
It's not particularly known for fine dining.
The Cattle Baron upstairs has better food, not great.
IMHO, both KB and CB are fun places.

Another vote for Lopez. Consistently the best food of any of the country club restaurants, IMHO. And, more menus diversity than Palmer.

Since the steak was inedible; it obviously was not eaten. What action was taken by the server and the manager when it was explained the steak was inedible and that is why the entire steak remained uneaten on your plate? Was the price taken off your bill? Was another entree offered?

I'm surprised to hear inedible. I get it quite often and find it's pretty good. What did the manager say about it ?

As most experienced restaurant posters know, we do not just want to read that a steak was horrible but we want to know how the situation was handled by restaurant personnel and management.

Was the situation taken care of by the server when the patron called them over and said the steak was horrible? How did management handle it?

And then, there are the customers who eat the entire steak, proclaim it inedible to management and want a comped meal and then post on TOTV when that does not happen.

I guess we are in the minority, but we always enjoy our visits to Cattle Baron. We do not go for the food - but we don't go anywhere in TV for the food! We love the decor, like the dance hall atmosphere, like the noise of people enjoying themselves. We don't go as much as we used to, but we've had some good evenings there. I also think we are fortunate to have a Residents only "club" for want of a better word.

I agree. It's a beautiful place. We love to sit out on the balcony and enjoy a drink and people watch. I must say, they have several meals there that I really like.

Agree - it's like any other restaurant find what you enjoy and what their chef can cook and stick with it! They do a crab stuffed flounder fillet which is good. I don't order steak out, ever, I like my steak so rare that a band aid would bring it back to life and no where will do that any more! The otherhalf likes his medium to well and it comes out like old shoe leather. Eat steak at home.

Love that upstairs Balcony overlooking the square, hearing the music and watching people dance ................

We ate at Katie Belle's for lunch one afternoon and it was fine. Not fantastic, but fine. We haven't been there in the evening, and haven't been to Cattle Baron yet. We have, however, been to Nancy Lopez. Now that was a glorious meal. Glorious. I think I heard angels when I took my first bite of food. :icon_hungry:

We enjoy both Cattle Baron and Katie Belles for what it is. The food is good for a reasonable price. We love hearing the music and enjoy dancing. It is my favorite place to go for what they offer.
If you want a better meal, you can go to other restaurants in TV, but they do not offer a Nite Club and all that goes with it.
