Noticed last night that the Harley Davidson Store at Lake Sumter Landing was closed...I know they had lots of T shirts and things that had "The Villages" on them. I did see a telephone number in the door...do you know if they may have opened at the Marion Market or if they moved outside The Villages...thanks

I believe that store was opened as an off-shoot of the Leesburg Harley Davidson dealer. They probably moved the merchandise back to their main store. It's Gator Harley on the right side of 441 just before the airport.

I never did feel that they were a good fit at the square. Kinda too specialized?

You can probably get the same Tshirts at the Mercantile stores, doubt that the store in Leesburg will have villages Tshirts in it. It will be fun to see who moves into their shop.

Harley closed..Coldwater Creek closing..TGIFriday's closed. Brownwood still half-empty since it's "official" opening in the fall of 2012. Hmmm.

Isn't a campaign office opening in LSL? That would fill the spot until November.

I believe Coldwater Creek filed for bankruptcy and is closing all of it's stores. I wouldn't lump Cold Water Creek in with the other stores that have closed assuming you are trying to reach some conclusion about the viability of stores in the Town Squares.

So what is your point? You have made it clear you do not live in The Villages and you don't much care for The Villages. Why hang around on this forum pointing out perceived negatives? I'm really interested in understanding your motivation to disparage?

I understand they moved everything back to the Harley Davidson Dealership - 441 - Leesburg

Harley store in TV was a long shot to survive, good for them in trying.
Coldwater Creek & TGIFridays were corporate decisions to close nationally.
Brownwood half empty.....probably half-full and will be full soon.

Hmmm. Just what is your point???

El Santiago closed
Orange Blossom closed
Hill Top closed
No new businesses are willing commit to the Villages
Perhaps it time for someone to rethink their business plan

Fingers crossed a new Beall's Outlet will move in there.

It was reported this morning on another thread that great things are going on at OBCC. That's just a temporary closing.
Santiago closing has been discussed to the nth degree on other threads.

You may want to take a look at what is new, here.

Why would the Villages need to rethink their business plan? Obviously they are quite successful but they have little control over the success of the merchant. With over 400 shops and services under the Villages banner we speak of only a handful of failures. The typical complaint is that TV charges too much for rent. I would like to know how many of those failed businesses in TV became successful businesses outside of TV? There are reasons for their failures.
As far as new businesses are not willing to come to TV, is this something you know as a fact? Perhaps you have not been tuned into the many new shops and services now occupying both Pinellas and Brownwood.

Just look at all the vacant stores at Brownwood, vacant stores at Lake Sumpter, and dogs eating with their hats on at restaurants. The Morris's had better get their act together.

Did not fit into The Villages and Lake Sumter. Another store that just doesn't fit is Sherman Williams. Who goes to Lake Sumter to buy paint?

It's Morse, and I'm sure they have their act together.

Dogs eating with their hats on is just plain rude unless of course they are celebrating a birthday. As far as Brownwood goes you have to allow time for the surrounding area to grow in order to give potential tenants a comfort level of early successes. My understanding is that even Lake Sumpter (sic) took a number of years to populate to an appreciative level.

I do. Lots easier and quicker than going to Home Depot, Lowes, Color Wheel, Ace or Walmart. The paint is great and they have ample painting supplies.
There's another paint store in Pinellas Plaza, too...:)

Yes!!!

What does 'fit' for The Villages mean???

Restaurants close.......
Clothing shops close...

I guess they didn't 'fit'

We here in The Villages are not that much different than other towns. Stores come and they go.... I, personally, am enjoying the simplicity of Brownwood as it is right now....I know that will change over the years and I'm sure I'll like it then also.

I don't understand this either. It seems to me that "Notta" said that he does live in The Villages but calls himself Notta Villager because he doesn't buy into the lifestyle.

I don't understand why he feels he has to live here. You can by comparable homes for less money in other communities. Why would anyone feel that they have to live here?
