Joan and I saw our new home for the first time this past weekend.* We close March 5th.* It is everything we hoped for and are very pleased.* Enjoyed the Amelia pool for a couple hours.* We 040 can't wait* 040 for my retirement which is too far off.* We'll be visiting again in May to begin setting up our new nest.* Once again, on our 4th visit to TV...this place continues to impress us greatly - the pristine newness, the high quality level of maintenance, the bright open spaces, the views, the amenities.* We are certainly looking forward to becoming full timers.*

BTW, in our 4 visits, this was the first time we encountered a grump, sitting outside the new Publix Center, waiting for his wife to come out of one of the shops, describing the summers as brutal and central Florida having grown too crowded.* He is not a resident of TV, and is a snowbird who rents near here.* I explained I lived in FL for 40 years and finally discovered, after consideratin of NC mountains for retirement, that the cold days up north are more painful than the hot days in FL.* He should be looking for a new hobby or something.

Welcome to Amelia. We bought our courtyard villa there over the phone last summer. Still commuting from Maryland for another year until we can retire. Love Amelia and the neighbors!

Thanks! We bought ours "over the phone", too. We were rather apprehensive about it until we first saw it in person, despite the dozen photos our salesperson e-mailed to us. We did see it under construction in December, but it was far from the final product. So, how much are you looking forward to your move? How often do you plan to visit?

Hey gfmucci and lindaz, so happy for you. I guess the following pertains to you both and to us who are still in limbo:

If all of your dreams were to suddenly come true, you would have no use for them. For the real essence of their joy is in the journey you take to reach those dreams

I'm glad your journey is over, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

Gosh, I hope our journey isn't over. :yikes: That sounds too dismal. We have a lot of anticipating to do. :2excited: Won't be there full time for many months. We have all sorts of plans in mind: landscaping, furnishings, activities, train room, making friends, etc. etc. etc. :beer2: :2cool:

Glad you're liking what you see! That's such a huge plus (and relief) when you do things at a distance. I'd say you already have a good start with the making friends aspects since you're posting here. Welcome!

gfmucci,

We are going down for a couple of weeks during Easter time. We try to get there for a couple of weeks every two to three months until we can officially retire April of '09. Commuting from Maryland is not fun. Driving down I-95 with the two dogs every two months isn't hard, but coming back is awful. We just can't afford to retire just yet. Can't wait, and we love Amelia. You are welcome to come by and see us, just look for the terriers.

gfmucci I didn't mean your journey through life is over just your journey to TV. At least you have a home there. That is a great start for you. We are still waiting, ergo our journey continues. According to the adage, we will enjoy it more because we struggled along the way to see our dream come true. It wasn't my intention to upset you. Good luck.

Johnny:

I added several emoticons to my last post to indicate all is well.* I'm taking all this in great spirit.* And I agree that life is enjoyed more in the journey than in the destination. :agree: The journey continues...

Welcome :welcome: and congrats to our newest Amelia neighbors. We too have just last sept closed on our home and love it there. But like you are not yet there full time. Still making occasional trips down although not often enough. It will still take a while until we are truly there FT and can't wait. 1st few times down was closing, furniture & decorating runs. Hopeful that next trip will be more for relaxation and pool enjoyment as thing settle down.

Wow golfnut!!!!!! Arial is beautiful. The king of terriers, eh? That is a handful I bet.

TVMan we are in the same shape. Our Easter trip is finally for fun. The furniture is in and all the relatives have seen the place. It is our turn to hang out and have a good time now for at least two weeks. Then back here for one more year. At least we see the end.

Lindaz,

I can confirm that it is a long commute as we come from No. Va. not far from the MD boarder. Usually we fly out of Dulles. Hoping for some good fares this year, when we get ready to see our lovely home again.

Hi GF - we just came back for our first stay in our new home in Amelia. What fun, it is really ours. We spent many days running around and also waiting for a few deliveries, meeting with various people to show us the heating/air conditioning, irrigation, etc. Husband did get to play golf but my clubs are still in NJ so I did some shopping - what else!!! It looks a little bit like a home now and when we are there permanently it will be great. Come on St. Joe - please help sell this house in NJ. GF what type of home did you buy? I look forward to meeting you and other newbies to the Village of Amelia at some point or maybe at the pool. :) :) :) :) :)

We got an Amarillo, just off O'dell Circle across from the Amelia rec center. Can't wait to visit again in May. When is your next trip down?

scottke

GF, we have an Amarillo too. We are Odell Circle to Corbett to Elwick. We'll be down again right after Easter until approx. April 4 and then back North. Good luck with your home neighbor.
