If you want to spend an enjoyable hour or so viewing photographs taken by your fellow Villages residents, be sure to attend the Villages Photography Club Photo Expo at La Hacienda Center on March 5. The Expo will be in the Julio Iglesias room and will be open from 10 AM until 3 PM. The photographers exhibiting their work are all members of The Villages Camera Club. You are certain to be impressed with the quality of the photographs being exhibited. If you're looking for something beautiful to hang on the walls of your Villages home, some of the photographers will be selling their pictures.
A nice "day trip" would be a stop at the Photo Expo and then toddle over to Albertson's where the Johnsonville "Big Grille" will be grilling and selling real Wisconsin brats. That's also the weekend of the Albertson's fresh seafood extravaganza.
I'll be at the Expo with some of my photos. Here's one I'll probably bring along.

Gorgeous pic, VK! Is the expo only for one day?? It looks like a "must see" for those who are there.
p.s. Albertson's is in the shopping center just north of (almost adjacent to) the Villages on 441.

I took it from the top of the dune on our beach in far southwest Michigan. If not for the width of the big lake, you'd be looking right about at downtown Chicago over the horizon. It was taken with a Canon EOS 30D DSLR mounted on a tripod to permit an aperture and exposure that would produce a depth-of-field getting both the beach grass and the far horizon in focus. The atmosphere cooperated by producing those bands of red on the lower part of the sun. It was beautiful!
Yes, the Photo Expo is only for one day. All of the photographers will be there, of course. Most will bring along cameras and be very willing to discuss how their pictures were taken and give as many tips as time will permit to visitors to our Expo.
We have photo competitions at each of our twice-monthly meetings. I can say from first-hand experience that one has to be at the top of his game to earn "top honors" from the judges for their submissions. You can see the winning photographs each month displayed on the wall of Li'l Bits Cafe in Palm Ridge Plaza, across the road west of Crispers. The winners of The Daily Sun photo competition will be in the paper on February 28. I won't be surprised if some of the winners are members of our club. You can also view our monthly winners at The Villages Photography Club website...

That is one of the most beautiful pictures of a near sunset I have seen. I've tried many times to capture a photo like that with no success.

VK:
My family had cottages and retirement homes in Hudson Lake, Ind and Van Buren State Park near South Haven, Mich. We probably passed each other many times on the road from the South Side to the cottages!
