Is there a retired pharmacist here in the villages who can tell me if my Generic Losartan 50 mg. with an imprinted number of 517 is the correct pill. I think I got the wrong medicine.

Why don't you just go to one of the drug stores and ask the pharmacist ?

One of my prescription medications changed color. I took it to the Publix pharmacist who looked at it and told me that it was the same stuff, but from a different company. They are amazingly kind and patient, every soul I have met who works at Publix.

I'm a pharmacist but would need more information. usually there is some other imprint as well as the number. just call the pharmacy you got it from--we took calls like that all the time and believe me, I never minded them because if a mistake was made we'd be happy the patient hadn't taken any. Mistakes were rare but never hurts to check.

Because your meds are generic, I would really take it in to let a pharmacist look at it. It'll be worth the peace of mind.

I already tried googling for tablets with just the number 517. losartan didn't come up but data bases may not be up to date. interestingly, benazepril did have a tablet with that number. I wonder if the medication was changed recently since, though not strictly in the same category, sometimes insurance may mandate a change. I think it would be better to call the pharmacy so they can check what was ordered and verify the patient got the correct medication.

Thank you all for your comments. I happened to be a the Publix on 466 and asked the pharmacist. He told me that I had the correct medicine and even gave me a printout from his computer.

He also told me there are a number of drug companies that produce generic drugs. Sometimes the color or shape is different. The law is that they can change the inactive ingredients but cannot change the active ingredients,

As Gracie Girl stated always a pleasure shopping Publics

Once Hyzaar went generic, I received a variety of different looking tablets. But I sure saved money.
