After looking out my window this morning and seeing 3 inches of "white stuff" and then watching what appeared to be cheerleading practice via the web cam, I am officially now on suicide watch. I asked Barbara to check on me every 15 minutes. The web cam is a torture devise. I would rather be waterboarded than to have to look at that little but big enough picture screen of palm trees swaying in the breeze. I thought every day was so long waiting for someone to call to show the house, watching that web cam makes every day now an eternity. I pray the good Lord can see, I need to be in TV!

Poor Johnny, I feel your pain. We suffer too, down here in TV...we've had very little sunshine for 2 days in a row, although the temps today will be in the 80s.

If it's any consolation, there have been noticeable swarms of robins visiting the Villages the past few days....maybe they are on their way back North and Spring will be arriving for you soon.

In the meantime, good luck with the house selling process. It WILL happen.

Tks 07. Maybe they should leave the web cam on in the spring and summer only!

Johnny, I feel for ya! Tis a muggy day in TV. Definitely warm, but yucky muggy.

Maybe it's time to plant St. Joseph (if you can find some unfrozen ground)? Just remember, say your prayer and pop him in head first.

Seriously, hope you and those waiting to sell their homes manage to do so soon. TV needs the good folks of TOTV -- the sooner the bettr.

Thanks RW, I never was a superstitious person, but St. Joseph is sounding better and better. I will wait a little longer it's only been 28 days. Seems like an eternity though.

I believe there is a 12 step program for wannabe TVer's. It addresses those who are addicted to TOTV, as well as Webcam-er's. I will send you the link... ;)

Tks guys but I hate to give into superstition. I feel if God wants us there he will do it in his own way. I'll give it one more month. I really want to keep the faith!

Hey, Johnny....find the forum discussion on St Joseph here somewhere...it's amazingly funny..you'll be trotting right out and finding one. We actually buried a St Joseph more on a "what do I got to lose" thing than anything else. I even buried him feet down (I screwed up) but it did work and worked well (I gotta give him some of the credit anyway). Just do it.......

You guys are really making me think I should do the burial ritual. I will look up the St. Joseph forum and get some pointers!

Hang in there Johnny.... I lived in rural upstate NY and it took 2 1/2 years to sell our house... We took a loss on it but it did happen and we are here. It will happen to you to. Don't lose faith!

I think Circuit City sells a device called a "Sling Box". You can plug in a web cam and direct it out your window. You can set it up so it is accessible over the web. Post the password and all those in TV can share your grief or we can take turns on suicide watch.

Tks Ooper & Bernie, and Bernie I love the "warthog" ! Ooper we just dropped the price today for the first time. I'm sure it will still take awhile. Will keep the faith thing going a little longer and then turn to St. Joseph....

I waved at you all last night from LSL. Did you see me doing the Electric Slide and drinking Bloody Marys? It was another beautiful day in The Villages.

I didn't see you Hope, we were driving home from Missouri, through an ice storm. Really! I will look for you tonight. I am so anxious to be where you are and to be able to do what you do. I love the webcam, and watching all of you have fun. It makes me feel like I am there. It is however a bit addictive, "a bit", hmmmmmm, that might be "denial".

Hi Hope, they widened the shot at LSL so when it gets dark you can't see the folks dancing. Now you can only see the sidewalk and the clock in front but not the dance area any longer. And no I didn't see you wave. The Electric Side and a Bloody Mary bring back memories of when we were there. Although mine was a scotch and water. Thanks for the Nah nah na nah nah moment though. Sue&Tom are you on your way to TV? Please drive safe where ever you are....Johnny

Home, we are Johnny...sad but true. We went to my uncle's 80th BD in Arkansas for the weekend. On the way down from the Twin Cities (where we live) we were commenting on how beautiful Missouri looked after the ice storm they had, the day before we went through. Every blade of grass, even the smallest of branches was coated with a film of ice that just sparkled. Ice dripped from road signs, fences, house eaves...beautiful! The roads were fine and beauty surrounded us. That was Friday.

On Monday morning we left KC, having covered that length of the trip Sunday, weather kept getting worse until we were in Iowa, in the middle of an ice storm, like the one that had produced all the beauty in Missouri. Trust me it is not beautiful while it is happening. Cars off the road everywhere...40 mph was speeding on the 70 mph freeway. Big semi's were both a blessing (they helped dig ruts into the road to drive in) and a hazard...if they passed you, which they did, your car was covered with the ice/snow they plowed through.

White knuckle driving, one more reason to move...not that we need another. Can't wait til we visit TV in April.

Someone has shot out our Spanish eye!!!!!
Is it just my computer or is the webcam down at Spanish Springs????
Help! This could cause serious withdrawal for many of us wannabe's.

SS cam has been down for about 3 days now. Ever since they widened the shot at LSL. Glad you two travelers got home safe. I know what ice and snow is like to drive in. Scary stuff indeed. Scary at TV today, too. I was monitoring the WC and those palms were really swaying. Glad the storm passed and all down there are Ok. Who can help with the SS cam shot?

JohnnyM
02-27-2008, 01:53 AM
I just had a horrible thought. Suppose they listened to my thread and took down the SS cam because of what I said. My suicide watch wasn't for real, or was it? I don't know. Now I will kill myself if they don't give us back our SS cam. Sometimes you just can't win!

JohnnyM

Yeah Bernie I prayed you guys would be okay. The webcam caught it all. That is a "tank killer" isn't it?

Brightspot,

Beautiful picture but somehow I dont get any yearnings to be back home. I guess Ill happily stick with the scary tornado watch's. It certainly did cause some unwanted excitement around here, glad its over. ;D

Brightspot please don't post pix like that. It gave me the shivers. All we had was rain in NJ. Just dodged a bullet. Nonie, I'm glad you guys are okay you really dodged a bullet. And to my buddy Fumar, you are on heck of a kidder. Personally I still don't believe in the St. Joseph thing, but you never know.

Just to let you know Barb, if it says Susan&Tom it is always Susan speaking. I am actually the quieter of the two of us in real life. Not so on TOTV. I am only now, luring Tom into this whole blog/forum thing. He thought I was nuts, now he thinks it's kind of fun. That started with Johnny putting him in a poster. Also Barb thanks for the past nice words about my poster that JohnnyM did.

Fumar once again you have me laughing so hard I get tears in my eyes...this time Tom too. :a20:
And Bernie you too are very clever.

Johnny I am worried about you how are you doing without our Spanish eye in the sky???

Brightspot; This is our backyard this winter. Nice, but, that is not line dancing going on out there. The next two pics are an interesting phenomena that happened on the stair railing. Don't have a clue how it happened.

Well I do miss the SS cam in a way, but in a way it is easier to deal with. I don't feel I'm missing as much with only the one working. I was hoping one of the Administrators would have reported it by now. I wish they would light up the area a little more so you can see at night. BTW are you and Brightspot trying to send me into snow shock? Can't explain the "loop on the rail" effect though. :dontknow:

Hope2bforever, the way I look at it, is that the cooler days in TV are an opportunity to wear cooler seasonal clothes. It means I don't have to get rid of my entire winter wardrobe and it also provides an opportunity to shop!!!!! So yeahhh, slight variations in temperature. And Hope, the fact that you can even think about flowers now is amazing! 8) ;D ;) :)

9:30 am and they are dancing in the square in LSL...sooo cool. What a great way to excercise.

On the down side I am sad to report that there is still no life in Spanish Springs...a moment of silence please.

A sure sign of spring is when the SS web cam gets hit in the lens with the sun moving northward. This is sure death to a camera lens and I'm thinking that's what happened. Those of you who viewed the cam last year will remember they had it pointed at the street rounding the Square, out of the direct rays of the sun. I saw this happening a couple of weeks ago and wanted so bad to jump up there and move it, for I knew it faced a sure death. Alas it happened. Maybe the staff will hire me to monitor the cams about TV ;D

Oh Handie, you have drained the hope from our hearts of ever seeing through our Spanish Eye again....I did so love the sparkle of the water in the reflecting pond. It was nice to imagine us strolling the square with our future neighbors. It was even more fun nodding to the obvious tourist in a way that said welcome...yes, (puff up the chest) we live here...(self-pat, pat, on the back)
Alas all that has been taken from us wanna-be's. We will survive with only one eye...at least we can watch them dance.

Susan you were so right about puffing up your chest and saying we live here. That's exactly how we felt when we were at LSL. We knew we were there on a guest trip so had to act subdued. Our tongues hung out as we petted the dogs and talked to the residents wishing it could be us in their place. Well I guess we are all working on it, all I can say is Godspeed to all of us to get there!

PS: Will someone please fix our EYE IN THE SKY????

Susan, never fear, our SS camera will be replaced I'm sure. I have to believe that the staff of TV knows how valuable that sight is. I'm sure it was an oversight that it was left facing sundown. Stay tuned, if all else fails, I'll be down in April and pound on someones desk to get it replaced ( where did I put that ladder?? hmmmmm??)

Handie, we are going to be in TV the 1st week of April. If we sell before hand I think I will put the SS webcam replacement and maintenance as a condition of sale for our TV home.
