FYI dog scratching & chewing

We have spent hundreds of dollars on our sweet little Moses trying to find cure for sensitive skin (his butt was almost bald).....FINALLY visited Dr. Tina Merritt at Animal Clinic of Lady Lake (next to Racetrac on 441)....Dog given kenalog (cortico steroid)10mg ($13.02), comfortis (flea control-3 tabs $57.91), prednisolone (30) every other day $13.00.....He has not chewed or scratched since.....thank goodness:MOJE_whot::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

There is nothing worse than seeing your pup suffer & you can't find a cure. I hope these Meds continue to help. Did this Dr. Charge you for an exam? Every time I take my dog to Colony they charge me for an exam, even to just give him a simple shot after he was there 2 months before & charged for an exam. I am ready for a new vet that doesn't gouge you every time you go there. Thanks for the info.

My Scooter (jack Russell) can be a handful, and doesn't like going to the Vet, BUT does love Dr. Merritt. This lady sure knows how to handle animals IMHO.

I would bet your pup is suffering from allergies. Probably from grass. There is also a cream you can put on the sensitive spots what give them relief and stops the licking. It's called Resicort. We would have to wash our pup's feet every time he came in from outside. A pain, but well worth it for his sake.

it was a classic Flea Allergy Dermatitus, she said just one flea will drive our little dog NUTS.....So thankful that MOSES Mom and Dad FINALLY found the problem....He has been suffering with this for months....Changed food to NO GRAIN, bathed him constantly, he was a Cone Head Dog for weeks, given numerous supplements, olive oil and kelp in food, ALL to no avail!!!!!...It is so nice to see him resting now....I just feel so guilty that it took me this long to finally give him some relief and wanted to pass on this info to any other family with similar problems with their dog....I'm a BAD mom for letting him suffer this long...This sweet little boy still loves me for some reason, such unconditional love..

With flea allergy dermatitus it doesn't even have to be a flea making them nuts, sometimes it's the flea poop.

My dog is white, it's easy to see on a white dog, looks like specks of pepper. This becomes a problem because even if you use the spot on flea stuff they sometimes poop before they're gone.

The other thing is if they've had a flea you might want to worm them for tapeworm.
