Avoid 95 bridge closed (495) in Christina Delaware, significant delays even without accidents, Supposed to be closed at least until September / October significant damage to supports.
Good luck on your travels.

Is that bridge on I95 or I495?

Would love to drive up with you but I'm flying to Maine on Aug. 10. I would suggest picking up 301 near Richmond, bypass D.C. and Baltimore and then pick up 95 again

Just wondering--is the 495 bridge that is being repaired on the east side of Washington DC or the west side?

The 495 bridge is the one across the Christiana River, you will need to look on Google maps to get exact location. The support structures have shifted (long story) and it appears that several need to be repaired or replaced. With this bridge closed about 90,000 or mores vehicles are detoured to I95 (Both North and South lanes involved), and some vehicles are further being detoured off I95. When I was back ion the area a month ago this was a real mess.

Maybe drive to Sanford and take the auto-train to Virginia. Then drive the rest of the way to Maine?
