Husband has been having these headaches since 2009, along with hand tremors and dizziness and occasional passing out. Was hospitalized in 2010, many tests done, no cause found. We need to find an excellent headache specialist in Florida. Can anyone recommend someone? I am thinking about trying Shands in Gainesville if can't find someone closer. These headaches are debilitating. We have seen internist here but so far prescribed meds. not helping. It seems like the docs here and back in WA state "give it their best guess". We need a doc who KNOWS headaches. Thanks for your help.

Will also be watching for responses. Wife has suffered with migraines for years and none of the neurologists in or near TV have helped. They all claim to treat migraine and headache sufferers but IMO their experience in this area is lacking.
There are neurologists associated with University Physicians Group in Gainesville, but you may have to wait for months to get an appointment. You might also want to consider a look at Neurologists at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Don't know if you can go there without a physician referral and copies of tests done already.

I would go to Shands or Mayo Clinic.

I would definitely look into Shands in Gainesville. They have specializations galore and the McNight Brain Institute is also there. The web address below takes you to the doctors and their credentials. In some cases, the doctors introduce themselves via a video.
I would open the link below and look under SPECIALTY CARE. The link is:

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find many of the necessary specialities in a rural area such as this ( I think due to the difficulty in attracting them and their families to rural areas without a major teaching university and the amenities and social experience demanded by younger up and coming professionals and their families).
You might want to include in your search, The University of South Florida in Tampa (USF Health). I believe they have a pain medicine and headache sub specialty group. Tampa, of course, is a much larger city than Gainsville, and may afford other opportunities in your search as well as being a similar commute. I personally spent 16 years as a neurology patient at USF(although not headache related) and found them to be top notch.
Good Luck!!

I am sorry your husband is having such severe headaches.
There are many possible causes.......
May I suggest that you GOOGLE the following......
"dr mercola cures headaches "
................do not include the quotation marks when Googling this.
....hope he has a speedy discovery of the underlying cause.
Good Luck.

Hi,
That sounds aweful and severe. I would go to Mayo in Jacksonvile,FL. They can help you make arrangements to stay near the Clinic while he's being evaluated. They'll do a complete workup.
I went there for some heart trouble and they were outstanding.

I also recommend Mayo in Jacksonville. They are diagnosticians and collaborate with all other specialties to find the cause. We stay in a hotel on the grounds when needed. For me it was worth the time and effort to go to Mayo Jacksonville.
