Going north on Belvedere towards CR466 there is now a right turn only lane. This was put in I believe on Friday, February 22, 2008.
Still see some people going straight through in the right lane even though it is marked with two signs that it is a right turn only. These must be people going into Publix, Crispers, Beef O'Bradys, or one of these other shops and restaurants in Southern Trace Shopping Plaza.

The right turn only lane at that intersection does seem to ease traffic flow. I didn't even realize that it was put in that recently....

Now they need to the same thing at CR466 and Buena Vista!!

They should put a right turn only lane at Buena Vista if there is room to create a new lane for it. The goat rope at Morse & 466 is a typical reaction when a bunch of loud mouths (oops, sorry) activists demand a solution without studying the problem. At Morse, all they did was take a lane previously open to right turners and drivers going straight and dedicate it to right turns. Now you have congestion in the center and left turn lanes with almost no one using the right lane. Occasionally, however, you do have someone in the right lane wanting to go straight, so they hold up traffic while they try to merge.
Meanwhile, across the street, you have 10 cars in the center lane waiting to go straight, 2 in the left turn lane, and maybe one making use of the right turn only lane --- which is really a good thing, because once again the right lane has a car or two wanting to go straight so they've blocked the right lane anyway waiting to merge into the center.
Right turn only lanes should be outlawed, against the Geneva Convention, condemned by the Pope, have a fatwa declared on them, maybe even ruled against the deed compliance stuff unless there is a lane created specifically for them and they do not interfere with existing traffic patterns.
Next weeek we will discuss the knee-jerk reaction to actvists that gave us the Edsel of Intersections, the light at Morse and Rio Grande. :yikes:

I seem to remember the right lane approaching the intersection of CR466 and Belvedere being closed around February 21, 2008 while they had the equipment that was painting the arrows and putting in the "right turn only" signs.

Muncle - You are so correct!! That is what I tell my wife every time we get stuck at the corner of CR466 and Buena Vista. They should have taken the time when they designed the road to put a right turn lane in.
I was correct in what I want but incorrect in the way to deal with it.
