Just wondering about this. I am 78 (don't know if that is important) but wondered whether I would be able to give blood. As to my condition I have had prostate cancer and am presently on blood thinners after 3 stents. I don't know whether any of these conditions would preclude from me giving blood?

Blood Donor Eligibility: Blood Pressure, Pregnancy, Disease & More | American Red Cross (http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements/eligibility-criteria-alphabetical-listing)

This gives information about a lot of the conditions which might stop you from donating.

You will probably have to wait until you are not using the blood thinner because the blood does not clot accordingly.

All of the places I have donated over the years follow basic precautions which are probably very similar to those of the Red Cross. They do differ a little bit from place-to-place.

You may want to call One Blood and/or Life South for more information. Both of these organizations have blood donor mobiles that visit in or near the Villages. http://www.oneblood.org/ http://www.lifesouth.org/
