Wonder if the golf cart rolled over offroad? Would seem to be difficult to do this unless another vehicle hits it rather hard?

I saw it and wondered if they took a corner to fast. It seems these accidents are becoming more frequent.
I stopped on the cart path at Buena Vista (to look both ways) before turning left onto Old Mill. A little old lady rear ended me. It was very jarring. I got out to see if she was OK and to assess damages. She quickly pulled out, passed my cart and flew across Old Mill without a glance for vehicular traffic. I was so shocked I just stood there a moment. I thought about chasing her but since my cart nor I were damaged, I let it go. This was several months ago. Wonder if she's run into anyone else or worse, a car has run into her.

Not really. Contrary to impressions, these are not the most stable things in the world. A friend rolled a cart the first time she drove it. Going down a tunnel ramp, she accidently hit the gas instead of brake. Racing toward the wall, she turned right too quickly and it rolled onto it's side. Muncle. I know most golf carts are quite flimsy as far as accidents are concerned. I have an acquaintance who hit one of the posts around the Morse Circle with her golf cart and the post won in the amount of $600 in damages to the golf cart and a cracked rib and other injuries to my acquaintance and her passenger.

Some of those posts seem a bit off center as I heard some man also broke his leg while driving past one of these stanchions. He had his leg out too far. That's a rumor though. I did not get any facts about that one.

Typical driving TOO FAST.

The center of gravity is high....the speed is too fast.....result loose control......

I usually say if they want to go fast they deal with what happens....however, when it causes me to have to sit and wait in traffic while a speedsters mess is sorted out.....then I am not happy about the mindless speeding that this entire state is notorious for.

Yes, Tal. She was alone. My cart has seat belts so I was securely strapped in. I can't believe she wasn't knocked out of her cart on impact.

Please tell me why these people could not have been taken there.

It has to do with the degree of injurys.I don't believe that TRVH is classified as a level one trauma facility.If I still recall the"drill" the Lead Paramedic on the scene after assessing the injurys contacts medical control and is advised as to where the victim is to be transported to.

To my knowledge TVRH is not a level 1 trauma center.

Remember not all hospitals have everything. Here in MA it is quite the same even though we have some of the best in the world. Kids get airflighted to Hasbro Childrens in Prov or Boston.
Major burns go to Shriners in Bos. All level 1 trauma get lifted to Bos. or Prov not the local regional.

Most regional hospitals (TV Regional H for example) are limited in their capacity for certain events. TVRH has an excellent new Cardiac Cath unit but prior to that you had to go to Leesburg or Orlando or Ocala. This is done to keep costs reasonable.

Last year some time I posted a link to an article in Money Magazine that discussed TV, and had some pretty interesting statistics about THRH. One of the most was that, at the time (I know they've expanded) there were more bowling alleys than hospital beds in TV. They pointed this out as an issue for a community with an aging population (I don't care of course as I intend to continue getting younger ;) )

I saw the results of a golf cart accident today (Tuesday). It was over by Southern Trace. It appeared the passengers were not injured, but the cart sure took a beating. The front was bashed in. Looks like maybe they pulled out in front of someone and got right angled. You have to be pretty careful in these golf carts - you just don't have the physical protection you'd have in an automobile.

They did it again,I wrote about this once before, Villages Regional Hospital 2 miles down the road, Please tell me why these people could not have been taken there.

Autoshow, I can tell you from my experience only but have no knowledge of how this officially works, but when I had an emergency, the paramedics explained to me that they evaluate the appropriate ER/hospital based on how crowded they are at the moment, if they have a bed available and if the ER docs can review your case in an appropriate time frame. So I agree with Barb and bargee, it depends on the level of emergency, which I very much appreciated. And, luckily, I was happy that the hospital I preferred was available for me. Everything worked out well even though it was not close to my home.

To the post about having seat belts put on their cart,look into having front brakes put on also.Try to stop with only rear brakes and you will find out why I say this.When I say stop do a panic stop.

I did not see it happen, but was there shortly after it happened. They were personal friends. She swerved to avoid hitting a car that turned in front of her, hit the curb and rolled onto the side. The windshield stopped the complete rollover. She received some broken ribs and head injury, her husband recieved a head injury requiring stitches.

Sidney, I see little downside to having the seatbelts. My 7 yo granddaughter loves to sit on the back seat of my cart. I would not allow it if she was not buckled in. I never drive or ride in my cart without using the belts. My husband doesn't have belts in his cart. We don't use it.

I can't think of any reason not to have seatbelts in a cart. When would it be better to be tossed from the cart than not?
Unless you lose a place on line at the restaurant because it took longer to get out of the cart? :dontknow: ;D

From the last few cart accidents I've read about it seems like these carts roll when the hit a curb - which brings up the questions are seat belts in carts a good idea or not? It almost seems like you might be better off not being strapped into the cart if it rolls over BUT I don't really know. My wife wants them but so far I' haven't got them installed, any thoughts/opinions on this question in either direction?

I did pass by this accident but didn't see it happen. But I have noticed several cars that will pass cars on the right( that are turning left at a intersection ) going into the cart lane on the right and almost wiping out a cart coming down that lane! NOT a GOOD thing to do! I've also noticed a lot of cars that give golf carts so much room when they pass them off (THinking they are doing good) but they cross over the yellow line in the middle and move the car coming down the opposite side over into the cart lane on their side - Also Not a GOOD idea if traffic is coming on the opposite side.

Since I've been here, I've heard of two deaths that were caused when the driver or passenger was thrown out of the golf cart. That's enough for me to say yes to seatbelts.

A month or so I stopped suddenly in the golf cart and hit the curb. We went up the curb when I lost control of the golf cart. I was a little banged up in the incident. No one was hurt but it did scare my dog Sport quite a bit as he was in the golf cart held by a passenger. Seat belts would have prevented me from hurting my leg a bit when I slammed on the brakes.
