Last night as I took my dog out at around 10:30pm, I heard this high pitch noise and then I saw a white truck that was driving very slow up the street and spraying something. White smoke, so I hurried the dog back into the house. I did not realize they sprayed at night and has anyone else see this?

I'm glad too. I hope the environmentalists don't try to shut it down. Other parts of Florida are bug havens, especially after all this rain and the standing water breeding mosquitoes that at the worst carry some pretty nasty diseases and at the least are really tough for those who really react to their bites.

Look up mosquito born diseases and you see why the spraying is necessary.

Yes, and I hope it continues....hate to suffer because of some mosquito borne infection.

I heard it also. Eerie, but worth it. Too bad they don't publicize the timing so residents and their dogs could take cover

Don't jump to the conclusion that it is not published.

The schedule.

I believe the majority of Villagers are out earlier in the evening with their dogs which is why they were spraying at that time of night. Please note I said "majority" not everyone.

You are right, Gomoho.
Through many personal experiences, at 10:30 at night, you hardly see a warm body on the street.
I think everyone is either in bed already or drunk!

They need to spray to control the mosquitoes. With all the rain they are a real problem in many areas. I had them all over me yesterday morning at Hacienda Oaks. I keep a can of OFF in my bad for just those occasions. Mosquito Control is a good thing especially with the type of diseases we can get from those pests.

Is the mosquito spraying a county by county issue or is it uniform throughout the villages?

I am not a frequent reader of the Daily sun but it would seem that it would be the logical place for such a schedule. Perhaps they do publish it and many people miss it????????? I have the feeling that many villagers would not be inclined to visit Sumter county websites on a regular basis? I may be wrong

We were coming home from golf the other night on Pinellas and saw a truck spraying too. Thought it was odd that they would be spraying around 8:00 in the evening because there's sill people out and about walking and on carts. We sat and waited a few minutes for the cloud of spray to clear before we proceeded. Probably not good to breathe in that pesticide, but I'm glad they are spraying.

I don't recall seeing one of those spray trucks ever in our village of Santo Domingo. We've been here over a year and a half. I have yet been bitten by a mosquito. We used a mosquito magnet when we lived in Massachusetts and had to keep it running. I don't miss taking care of the thing either.
