I know very little about golf but was looking up what handicaps meant and wondering what Tiger Woods handicap would be if he were playing in your usual golfing group? Would you have a chance of beating Mr. Woods? For women, put in some big name lady golfer in place of Tiger. Cannot think of a female golfer on par (sorry, pun intended ) with Tiger Woods' dominance in men's golf.

Tiger and all the pro's are what are called a scratch golfer. That means there handi cap is zero. However most of them on a normal IE villages golf course would shoot well below par on most days.

When a tournament is played the golf course is set up as hard as it can possibly be set up. The tee boxes are as far back as they will go, the pins are set for the hardest place on the green, the rough is allowed to grow as high as possible, and the rough is brought into the fairway so the landing zones are as narrow as possible, and the greens are mowed so they are as fast as possible. And yet most tournament winners still shoot well below par.

I played Pebble Beach about 2 weeks before a tournament was scheduled there and even though I played from the white tee's, it was a very humbling experience. I have also played there many other times and done quite well. But on that day, the rough was very deep, the fairways extremely narrow and the greens were very fast. Whole different golf course.

l2ridehd - Actually Tiger's handicap is not 0. He (and most pros) are + numbers. Tiger's current USGA handicap (if maintained) is around +9.2 (check various internet sources). That means that I (11.3 USGA) would get around 20 shots per round.

STILL NOT ENOUGH!

1 shot per hole from the back tees of any course is not enough against any PGA, Nationwide or European tour player.

I agree with Fumar - Tiger's handicap in my foursome would be the 4 of us!

I'd clean Tiger's clock on the 19th hole

It would be the same as the rest of the group - zip. We play for fun and can't wait for the 19th hole. We all pay for a round of beer and our own lunch.
