Dog For Sale: Free to good home.

Excellent guard dog.

Owner cannot afford to feed him anymore, as there are no more thieves, murderers, or molesters left in the neighborhood for him to eat.

Most of them knew him as 'Holy ****'

Very funny Muncle!

I think that is a bull Mastiff, correct me if Im wrong but they are one of the gentlest breeds going. Just looks like he could eat up everyone in the neighborhood!!

A good friend had a Bull Mastiff many years ago. Since he was a purebred, he had some fancy name like Prince Herbert of whatever somewhere. I took one look at him and said "Bullsh**, that's Bubba." Guess which name stuck.

I learned one powerful lesson about these animals. Never, ever be between where that dog is and where the dog wants to get to quickly. You will soon be somewhere else.

He probably slobbered the robbers, thieves, murderers and molesters to death. Love the breed. Bull mastiffs are truly wonderful dogs. However, their drool and slobber is, I think, the worst of any breed. Even three St. Bernards don't come close to one bull mastiff.

Our friends use to have a mastiff and you are right they really can slobber and drool. Very strong, loveable but can be very protective. A riot when they sleep on their backs and the jowls fall back. What a sight. He was very gentle with our son who was a baby at the time. He could do anything to the dog and he just sat there and took it, but very protective of the baby.

Friends of ours in RI has a Bull Mastiff and it is very large and very well trained. Anyone can enter the house and the dog wouldn't even look up. BUT, don't try leaving the house with out his owners giving the "OK to leave" command. I can't imagine what would happen if someone broke into their home while they were away and attempted to leave the house. Great Dog but you're right about slobbering, it was like a running faucet.

I did not know this breed could be so gentle. A neighbor had one and I think it was trained to be a guard dog. It would go through the front window of the car if he thought someone or something wanted to harm his owner.

I liked the story.

They really don't need much training to protect their owners. It seems to be inherent in them. These are truly dogs that will die for those they love (think Turner & Hooch with Tom Hanks -- it pretty much shows the personality of the breed quite well).
