This week the LPGA takes a break from its official tournament schedule, for the playing of the International Crown. This is a biennial event that will take place in even numbered years, as opposed to the Solheim Cup's odd numbered years. It is a global matchplay competition that will feature 8 countries battling for the rights to be called "The World's Best Golf Nation."

I just e-mailed the LPGA office. They are so bad a promotion and publicity. I see they are trying hard to sell a product that hasn't stirred the interest of the masses. The new commercials that the LPGA players are doing are a fine result of that effort.

But, the have totally bungled this operation. If you go to the website for the Crowne International. You cannot view the teams. You cannot find a list f the countries involved. There is an alphabetical list of the players without their country affiliation. And worst of all, there is no explanation of the format of this event.

I know that the announcers have mentioned some stuff about the format a few times, but I haven't been able to catch the full explanation. It's difficult to stay interested when you really don't understand what's going on. Eight team playing four days of fourball matches. There are two pools and only some of the teams make it into the final round on Sunday which will be singles match play. That is all I understand and I am very well versed in golf. It was my livelihood for thirty five years.

The LPGA's marketing department has really dropped the ballon this one. No wonder they have trouble keeping people interested in this tour.
