View Full Version : Who Can Make It To The Hearing?

I was reminded today that the hearing regarding the class action lawsuit over all the recreational facilities north of CR 466 is scheduled for 2 PM this coming Wednesday in Judge Lawrence Semento's court at the Taveres Justice Center. If not for a longstanding commitment on Wednesday, I would definitely attend.

The objective of the hearing for both the plaintiffs in the lawsuit (five Villages residents) and the Developer is to have Judge Semento approve their agreement, fees and so forth. Importantly, it is expected that during the hearing the manner in which the amount of the settlement and the manner in which residents will have some control over the operation of the recreation facilities will be thoroughly explained. This is pretty important to all of us as the pattern of the agreement will be the outline for a similar agreement for all facilities south of CR 466.

Can anyone attend and provide a report here on TOTV of what happened? It's very doubtful that there will be any media coverage by The Daily Sun, WVLG or VNN. About the only way any of us can expect to find out what the settlement is really all about is for someone to attend the hearing. I'm sorry I can't.

VK, I feel your pain. I hope somebody who gets all this will attend the meeting and report back here on TOTV. This sounds pretty darned important.

When we were there, we attended one of those meetings that explained the governance. Afterward, I understood it - sort of - but not really. I tend to project my thinking into the realm of what if??? (When I was a little kid, my mother used to always tell me that I could ask more questions than a Philadelphia lawyer. - I never knew why the lawyer was from Philadelphia, but I continue to use the expression.) At this point in my life, I think maybe I just need to get over asking so many questions. -- Yeah, that's going to happen.

Anyway, I digress. - Quel surprise.

TV is unique. It is, quite simply, a behemoth. That is actually what we like best about it. We don't want to buy a retirement home where we have to wait for development to happen. It's there.

But I am watching this transition in governance. Surely TV cannot be left to operate like one of those places with a few hundred houses where elections are held for what boils down to the King and Queen of the Hop. If that is the case, the behemoth will be beached. - and that is never a pretty sight.

I live in a state where I have heard that there have been a few issues in some places with the investment of public funds. I think somebody invested in Beanie Babies or some such thing. Who will have the power to invest TV residents' money? Who watches 'em?

I really am not trying to ruin anybody's good time this morning. It is entirely possible that all is well and that everything is in place as it should be. In spite of all my questions, I am not a victim of analysis paralysis. We plan to buy in.

I think it is you, VK, who says that you are not buying green bananas or is it magazine subscriptions at this point in life. I am coming to terms with the same philosophy. But I just can't stop asking questions. But I am working on it.

Where have all the cubby reporters gone?????

Never stop asking questions, and know where to look and who to ask.

gf,

Thank you.

I tend to look at everything so, alas, I have to ask everybody. It can be quite tiresome. :)

I am one of those standard issue midwestern girls so I do not subscribe much to those theories on horoscopes. But now that I think of it, I am, in fact, a Libra. -- darn it -- forever cursed to weigh both sides.

My intention is that once we buy in TV, I will simply suspend my need to become involved in anything that is political in any way, shape, or form. Do they have support groups for that plan in TV?

In truth, I really can't wait to spend winters in the Sunshine State and the plan is to start in '08.

I think I just went off topic and I need to shut this computer down for awhile. The sun is actually shining here.

Hi Village Kahuna,

Wish I could attend. Probably would help me understand some things better.

Thanks for posting this.

Boomer, I agree about the questions. If I ever make it to the pearly gates, I'll probably raise my hand and ask something like "What the heck were you thinking with the platypus?". And you are right on the mark with questions about the future of TV. I ask a lot of questions at meetings, but oral answers are generally worth the paper they're written on. Can I offer a suggestion to you and anyone else who might be interested? In a recent Thursday column, Janet Tutt, the District Manager, said that anyone with questions could contact her or any of the staff personally, by phone, or by email. I suggest that a variety of interested people send emails to Janet and the others asking specific questions and then post the answer here. Make it clear in your email that you plan to share the replies with other interested "friends".

If interested, Janet's email is Janet.Tutt@districtgov.org
