Car/bike accident in The Villages..man went into diabetic coma, hit a bicyclist and telephone pole. Car roof had to be cut off to get him out. Both in critical condition. Pray for survival, healing, recovery from emotional trauma, families to be comforted.

This is one of those things you can pray for all day long, every time you think of it. A new slant to multitasking. I have lots of laundry to do today. Every time I stop to check out the forum, I will be reminded to lift these people up.

Thank you Kitty for opening up a new thread for prayers. May this thread stay on topic, unlike the other, which played the "blame" game. Our only thoughts should be for these two people involved in an ACCIDENT and their families...

I'd like to share a PM I received from Room-e-nuf earlier today.
Thank-you muchly for your prayers......we are a Christian family and value prayer. We are all devastated from the accident our family member caused. I wrote a posted yesterday to Thank everyone for the picture and eye witness accounts that were posted on a thread that is not longer open...but now can't seem to find where the post was place. If you could...as you are probably more savvy than myself (new to this site) at navigating around ...if you could thank the people who posted...as they were so very helpful to get a glimpse as to what had happened.....as we had not a clue til we read what was posted on talk of the villages. What a wonderful group of community you all are. We will be praying for you...with great healing for you mind and heart at what you took in at the accident site. Take care and God Bless.

Any update on the condition of both involved in the accident? We had a friend that went into a diabetic coma in his sleep and never woke up so the driver and bicycle rider are in my prayers as well as the people that saw it. Such an image can be traumatic for everyone.

I am still worried about both of them. We have witnessed our friend changing in front of us. A diabetic episode is quick, and can happen to people without warning if they are at a certain level of diabetes.
Now that man has to carry that he harmed someone, and that woman who is undoubtedly very ill will take a long time to recover. I hope she will recover. I so hope.
I will continue to pray each time I think of both of them. AND also our friends on this forum who saw it happen. Sad and awful.

I had a friend in NJ who was a diabetic. We talked about it, and I could recognize certain symptoms. I always had orange juice and certain carbs on hand when she visited. She always kept something in the car, usually a candy bar.

A diabetic seizure may result from excessively high blood sugar or excessively low blood sugar. Muscles can twitch or jerk and tighten up. Some body parts can become numb, the person may become confused, dizzy, sweat, become very tired and get a headache.

i continue to stay in contact with the relatives of the SUV driver. Wish I could find a connection with the bicyclist's family, too, but haven't been successful yet.
Here is the last pm from the SUV driver's family:
Thank-you Renie...I have your phone number and will pass it along to my husband, Doug.
Willard, his father....is still in ICU..massive broken and smashed bones in his chest...in which at some point they will go in and place metal sleeves over each rib.
His left leg was smashed and broken in several places...in which surgery has been done with placements of 2 rods.
He isn't at all with us or alert upon family member's visits to him as he's so heavily medicated.
As of today, everything concerning him is still the same as when he was first brought in.
I don't know if you knew or viewed the post of one of the people on this sight who said the
lady on the cycle was 65 years old and who's name was Dale Ellen Hodgkins, so I thought I'd mentioned it here to let you know.
It's good to have her name as we pray for her.
I haven't heard at all concerning how she's doing, but
will keep believing a speedy healing process for her.
This whole matter is so awful....I can't even begin to
understand all of it or why.
Life.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend.
Take care,
Amy

Please don't forget Willard (driver of the SUV) and Dale Ellen (bicyclist) in your daily prayers.
I keep in contact with Willard's daughter in law and this is the latest PM I have from her. Willard's son was in town for a few days to be with his father. I have included my PM so you can better understand her reply comments.
Here is my PM:
Checking in to get an update on your father-in-law. I haven't heard anymore so am relying on you for current information.
Have you any current information on Dale Ellen Hodgkins? I've no contact to keep me current on her and wish I did.
Both your father in law and Dale are on my mind daily. I pray for their recovery and pray for peace once this is behind them.
Your husband hasn't called so I'm assuming he is doing okay. Is he still here in The Villages? I would be more than happy to cook some dinners for him. My husband and I are both avid cooks and would love to help in any way possible.
Keeping all of you in our prayers.
Her reply:
Thanks so much for writing back.
I just read your email to my husband, who flew back from Florida on Sunday! He said.."Sounds like I missed out on a fine meal! I'll look them up when I'm back down there. They sound like the sweetest people!"
Thanks so much for your care! it means the world!
As far as the updates.....Willard is holding his own. He'll be in ICU, the Doctor's foresee for another 3 weeks. Healing is very slow.
I along with you have not heard anything on Dale...but think and pray for her day and night.
Each day I look for some kind of news about her on the internet...but come up empty.
I sure will keep you posted when and if I do hear or read of anything concerning her.
Hope life is well your way...and wishing you and your husband a Super Great Day!
Take Care
