Tipping the stylist/owner of a salon.

I never know whether to tip the stylist/owner of a hair salon. It used to be that we did not tip the stylist if they owned the salon. I go to an upscale salon and pay a lot for a haircut. The cost is getting prohibitive. Do you tip the stylist if they own the salon? How about the shampoo girl? How much?

I would not tip the owner of the salon
They set the PRICE, they make all the profit
The price reflects all the overhead involved
I would however give a Christmas bonus

$5 for the stylist and Christmas card and cookies at Christmas for all of them, home made cookies etc of course!
