Not to play, but to build? We're finding it very interesting to look out our back window and watch the new Executive courses on Morse being readied, and this question has come up. Probably hard to pin down, but I find it hard to even take a SWAG at the fully loaded cost of taking an empty field to such a state. Anyone have any insight here?

Lots of variables but between $50,000 and $175,000 a hole.

USGA: USGA (http://www.usga.org/course_care/articles/construction/general/Building-And-Maintaining-The-Truly-Affordable-Golf-Course/)
Please click link for answer from the largest US golf organization. Expensive! And then $30,000 annually PER HOLE to maintain it! ($600,000 divided by 18 holes)

wow!
[maybe we should keep this quiet?]
sometimes i think this place is too good to be true
Having managed Country Clubs for many years the average cost to maintain a quality country club is 1.2 million plus per year.
The cost to build not counting land is extremly expensive.
