No, this isn't another request to see which is best, as I already know from TOTV that both are bottom-of-the-barrel internet providers.
I have been with Centurylink for four years, but for the past six months not an hour has gone by without my connection being dropped. It always comes back a few minutes later but, since I use the internet to stream TV programs, it is a real pain reloading them and getting back to the point I had reached. I have had numerous Centurylink engineers round, changed my modem and my wiring, but no change and no real concern from Centurylink so I have just cancelled and signed up for Comcast.
Now, my question: I have signed up for one year at $19.95 after which the rate goes up. In your experience, what is the best way to get a good deal after one year?
Does anyone have the direct number or e-mail address for a friendly Comcast operative who can be sweet-talked into renewing at $19.95 or, at least, an amount that is reasonable?
Thank you

We have Prism and could not be more pleased. Price is well below Direct TV with so many more Premium channels.

ArticFox, The economy plus $19 plan is only a 3 Mbps service. Although it's cheap, it's nowhere near enough bandwidth to stream video.
For an extra $10 per month ($29.95) you can get thr 25Mbps performance Internet plan. That's the minimum I would suggest for video streaming.
Like it or not, Comcast is the only game in town for fast reliable Internet video streaming.

Then click "compare providers in your area".

This is pretty good advice. We have had Comcast and now Centurylink and Prism. We had problems with CL internet so they sent me a new modem and everything works great now. Jury is still out on this but so far so good.
Regarding Prism, you have to be careful where you are on the line. I loved Prism but we had to get rid of it because the reception kept splintering so it was unwatchable. The problem is that we are at the end of the "cable" and, as Prism explained, the farther you are, the more potential for problems. If you are in a newer area of the Villages, you might have better cable than we do in Liberty Park (been here 9 years). I wish they would put fiber optic in and then the problems would be solved.

IMHO Comcast has an excellent product, their customer service however(billing, tech support ect)is an absolute disaster. If you don't mind spending an average of an hour a month chasing from one dept.to the next to correct billing problems then go for it.I would strongly suggest that you do not use auto pay.

I have never had a problem with Comcast. I understand what you are saying about when you have a problem and you are registered for auto-billing, but you would have that same problem with any company.

The OP asked for advce on renewing a promo plan after the end of the promo. (however, the subject "Comcast v CentrutyLink" is misleading)
I have had success in just calling and selecting the "cancel my services" prompt, and explaining that there are other choices, I am thinking about changing providers...what can Comcast do in regards to pricing to keep me as a custmer?" Always seems to result in another promo (dsicount) plan.
Hope this helps

Thanks, JB - that seems to be the only way. Just a shame that these companies don't recognize loyal customers by giving them an automatic break, too

Any pros and cons pertaining to Direct TV? We currently have Brighthouse.
