Will have a Showroom, a Gas station and Repair Shop
for Golf Cars Only. They will sell Gasoline without the Corn in it.

I asked "what is the name of the place"
the feller said "George's Place".

When I asked " what is George's last name "
the feller replied " DAMNIFIKNOW "

There you have it.
George Damnifiknow is going to have a nice new facility.

I don't understand why cart accessible service bays and a convenient place to buy gas would be considered a "dreadful waste".

When we bought our new golf cart from Villages Golf Cart in April the salesman
told us that they were going to build a garage for working on golf carts. owners could drive there and have the cart serviced instead of having to pay for them to pick up and return the cart, FINALLY!

Why is the corn (ethanol) not good for my golf cart engine?

Why is the corn (ethanol) not good for my golf cart engine?

MAINTAINING YOUR GAS GOLF CART (http://jandrgolfcarts.com/a_gas_cart.html)
Over the past few years we have seen a huge increase in the instances of fuel related problems in the golf carts we service.

These problems have been attributed to E-10 (10% ethanol added to our gas). Golf cart engines with carburetors, as well as, most small engines were not designed to use E-10 (10% ethanol in added to our gas). E-10 fuel efficiency can be reduced by 2 to 40%

Some of the effects we have noticed: stalling, hesitation, smoke released from exhaust, clogged fuel filters, clogged carburetors, damage to fuel pumps, disintegration and dissolving of engine rubber and plastic parts (hoses), and drying-out of parts.

Ethanol in the gas attracts water from the atmosphere. Rapid temperature changes causes the water suspended in the gas to fall out (phase separation), causing stalling, and your cart to run roughly. This process also reduces the octane in the gas by as much as 4 points (if octane level is 89, it can be reduced down to 85)

Ethanol reduces efficient combustion, which decreased performance, leads to stalling, and your cart to running roughly.

As the ethanol in the gas tank ages a gum forms leading to clogged carburetors and fuel filters. Clogged fuel filters and carburetors rob your cart of power.

It is bad for most small engines.

I think they need to build it a bit higher.
Was walking along The Lake Sumter River Rapids and noticed this thing. Seems like overkill but I am sure there is a reason.

It is not good for any engine. It is a shame we are forced to use this fuel. Not only is it bad for engines, it waste tons of water to produce and a great waste of corn.

There are a few of us who have gas carts, and don't mind going to the dealer for service.

Where is there a gas station in Brownwood? I can only think of the new Marathon station at Pinellas Plaza.

Not sure it would be a good thing to have an automobile gas station in town....so much traffic and during the high season, it could be, well.....

Annie, where exactly do you think Brownwood is? Brownwood is the newest town square at the southern most point in The Villages. As others have already pointed out...there is NO gas station in Brownwood. If you are talking about the new Marathon station on 466A, that is not in Brownwood.

That "huge building" was built for the specific purpose of providing a full-service service station for golf carts....not just as a gas station for carts. And with 50,000+ golf carts in TV, I'm guessing it will be a well-used addition.

I was told by a sales person at TV golf carts that similar buildings will be in Spanish Springs and Brownwood. All golf cart services now done by pick up and delivery of golf carts will be done at these three locations. Over time even carts not sold by TV carts will be accepted for service. Rolling Acres site will by building carts only.

The Villages Golf Car store in Brownwood started doing annual maintenance service (and perhaps more) in July. I think that their store in Spanish Springs is also doing it, but not sure.

My only concern about the facility beside Barnes and Noble is that it will take up overflow parking spaces, which during high season, are generally filled.

Parking at Lake Sumter is tough even during (off season). However-since TGIF has been closed since last Fall and remains empty despite multiple rumors on this site--the need and use of the golf cart gas station/service center is very appealing and great idea for George DamnIfIknow...Lol

Don't see how there will be any problems with parking spaces. Most of the building (if not all) was built on land that was not part of parking spaces. The service department will be inside, and with the showroom (I think) on the second floor. Pumps I assume will be outside. I think it's great for the community, and easy access for many. Of course, it wouldn't make sense to have automobiles coming in and out, so I like the idea of "Carts Only"!! I'm sure we will have some people complaining for one reason or another, but Hats Off to The Villages for constructing such a great idea! Once completed, I think everyone (well almost everyone LOL) will be happy.

We came by last night and they have the official business signs for Villages Golf Cart on the exterior of the building. So I have to believe it is a Village Golf Cart full service store. I cannot see where it is going to impact parking at LSL.

The old TGIF will probably open end of January, beginning of February. It will be Honest John's Whiskey & Provisions.

Based on the responses above , this is yet another failure by the owners of the space to " clear " their Plans with the proper authorities . When will " they " ever learn ?

We would love to have a convenience store somewhere off Morse or Buena Vista south of 466. If we need a couple of 3AAA batteries or a bag of chips.

It would be nice to have a convenience store handy instead of having to circle for a parking space at the grocery stores. Wish they could combine that with the golf cart garage business. Sort of a deluxe "Truck Stop Business" for Golf Carts and residents.

We use Winn-Dixie for our 7-11 type needs as well as regular grocery shopping and rarely have trouble parking in the lot near the liquor store.

Wonder if they will only sell gas to carts bought from them?!?!?!? :icon_wink:

BTW, to those who don't know, "non-corn" gasoline is considerably better to burn in small gas engines (2 and 4 stroke), i.e., mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers golf carts, etc.; helps keep moisture from forming and carburetors/fuel injectors from clogging up. Just sayin.

If you had noticed, the building was built on grass ground, without taking up spaces. The most spaces (if at all) that will be taken, is about 10. The only time that area gets full, is for Holiday shows etc. I think this garage is fantastic, for those who have gas carts, to purchase gas. And those who are electric, (like myself) can get cart serviced etc. PLUS, you can purchase new cart also. This will work out for everyone. Hope you get to enjoy also.

Dumb question #106--We will be coming down Jan 1 and the place we are renting has a gas cart. :a040: As the people seem really nice who own it I wouldn't want to mess up their pretty red cart. Is their anywhere to buy gas without corn down by Tamarind Grove? Last year for our car we bought gas at the shell past colony but I didn't notice if it had ethanol in it.

Hopefully by then, the station will be open, otherwise use the same gas that 30,000 carts are using!!! Not a problem

Second, I agree with others - don't worry about it. But if it makes you feel better, you can buy non-ethanol gas at the Marathon station at Pinellas Plaza.
