For the past few days the back button doesn't work on TOTV. This happened last year then quit. Any help?

I too am having issues with the return arrow key. When I select a topic from the Forum page to read and then try to go back to the Forum using the arrow key in the top left hand corner, it doesn't work. I have to use the New Posts to get back to the Forum which takes me to page 1 of the Forum instead of the page I was on. Admin - please fix. Thank you.

I have had the same problem for 3 days. Also the tab on the top keeps flickering.
Admin should be aware of the problem and work to fix it.

Add me to the list of those having problems with the back button. Very annoying to have to refresh the entire list of New Posts if you want to look at any of the threads. Please fix ASAP!

Try to go to Internet Tools and add the TOTV site to the Compatibility view.

Thanks quirky 3.....adding TOTV to the Compaitbility view has allowed the back button to function once again but the refresh rate for the screen is so slow that it cannot keep up with even my slow typing. Any suggestions to fix this? FWIW this happens on IE 11.

No back-arrow problem here. But I hate IE and use mostly Firefox or Chrome. :Screen_of_Death:

I use IE as my default but also Firefox on some sites that do not like IE. Have logged into TOTV using both this morning and the same problems continue with either.

If your computer is like mine, if your back button doesn't work, look (directly) next to your back button and there should be a little arrow pointing down. Click that little arrow and it will take you back to the page you were on.
For instance, on my computer, if I click on that little arrow, it will show that I tried to use the back button once, then I tried to use it again, then it will show what page I was on...so, all I have to do is click on that and it will take me back to that page. (It's like a little history of what pages you were on).

If you "right-click" on the back arrow, it should also show the drop-down list of where you've been lately. :024:

OK, I thought I was going crazy, I have been having the same problems also. Will try the compatibility setting in IE11, however, I have recently seen the same problem with Google, so this may be bigger then just TOTV. Everybody look to the west, bow and keep repeating "Thank you Bill, Thank you BIll,......."

I use Google Chrome most of the time and I, also, have noticed some hesitation on the back button in the last few days as well as some "blinking" of the TOTV icon on the tab. I blocked the ads and the problem stopped and the refresh rate became much faster.

Seems that if so many folks, including me, are having a problem with that back button it is a TOTV problem not an individual computer problem. Sure hope they can fix it sooner rather than later.
Admin - any feedback on this?

quirky3,
Thank you for the suggestion. Using the back button on TOTV stopped working for me a couple of days ago, but your suggestion seems to have solved the problem.

Have folks having this issue done the above excellent suggestion? This would help explain where the back button is taking you. Once you see what is in that list, there are folks here that can help you... In fact some real suggestions are here:

Yes, it's frustrating...the back button stopped working about a week ago on TOTV on both Windows 7 and 8.1 computers for the first time in 6 years.

So far so good on reviving the back button by changing to the compatibility view. Site is still running very, very slow. From the time I click to read a thread until the screen refreshes including all banner ads it now takes as much as 30 to 45 seconds for the screen to completely refresh. Reminds me of the old days when I used the old AOL dial up modem connections. Even typing this message requires multiple pauses to allow the site to catch up on what I have typed. Not having this problem on any other websites. Someone definitely needs to look into this problem.

I checked the compatibility icon and my back button still does not work. I have to use the little down arrow next to the back button to see where I've been. Also have a delay in key strokes when trying to type this message. Very frustrating.

This worked for me when it was posted previously, and I found that I needed to do it again after a recent Windows Update to my Internet Explorer.

Could be my imagination but the website seems to be running a little quicker today. There is still a significant delay from time to time which appears to be directly related to the banner ad's (top of page and left column) refresh rate. Website continue to time out repeatedly. Still cannot type more than a couple of words before everything locks up. Takes approximately 15 seconds before the screen begins to respond again which seems also to be whenever the ads are being refreshed.

I tried the suggestion from earlier in this thread about putting *.doubleclick.com and *.doubleclick.net into the Restricted Sites list in IE11 (accessed via Tools, Internet Options, Security Tab). It didn't help the Back problem, but pages now load considerably faster.

I do not have the issue, but am interested in case I do someday.
Did you verify that doubleclick* was where back button was taking you (verify by right clicking on back arrow)?
Just curious...

Another consideration: my Comcast internet download speed has slowed from an average of 25mbps to 15 to 20mbps recently. A site like TOTV that has considerable overhead due to a myriad of advertising sources and photos may make a problem with your broadband speed even worse than some other sites.

I run IE 11 and there is a down arrow next to the forward and back buttons that displays the list of previous pages. This list looks ok until I scroll vertically on a page and then the list fills with "https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums" entries. I tried dragging the scroll bar, clicking the up/down scroll arrows, page up and page down keyboard buttons and the mouse scroll wheel - they all cause the problem.
