Hi, this is the first time for me to rent out my CYV. One possible tenant is a canadian. If my golf cart is damaged, how do I go about having them to pay for the damage? I think it is hard to take them to court because they are foreigners. Any information is highly appreciated.

Our first rental after buying 3/14 was to a wonderful Canadian Couple. Our insurance company put them on our golf cart policy, the same as those coming from the US. With our insurance company there was no difference. You may want to check with your agent about the coverage.

Doesn't the Renter sign the Hold Harmless agreement? My insurance agent gave me a copy of the "Golf Cart Agreement of Financial and Personal Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement" for the Tenant to sign. The Tenant is supposed to reimburse the Landlord for the damage if any. I am sure the Canadian couple as my Tenant will probably be very nice people. But it seems to me that this Hold Harmless Agreement can not be reinforced if damage occurs. Thank you very much for your answer. It is very kind of you to offer information.

You need to talk to your Insurance Company to ensure your policy includes renters. Whether you are renting to a Canadian or someone from Oregon, the important thing is to have a good insurance policy that covers renters and protects you.

Thomas Insurance 352-326-8021. We've been very pleased. We've had a few weekly rentals (don't hate us-it pays the bills until we can move to The Villages!) and multi weeks since April. It has, for the most part, been rented steadily. We fax the form provided by Thomas Insurance with the renters information. A couple days later, we receive an email with the coverage for the period of the tenancy. So far, nobody has been denied coverage after their driving record is checked and there is no fee to us to add the guests. The guests know before hand if coverage isn't in place, they won't get the key to the golf cart. No complaints yet.
