These words of wisdom come from a friend who loves Maxine of Hallmark Card fame.
I think this is one of Maxine's best bits of advise:
Always keep
several get well
cards on the
mantel..... so if
unexpected
guests arrive
they will think
you've been sick
and unable to
clean.

Hi Beady,
I have heard that one before with the addition that the company will vacuum and clean for you.
I am getting get well cards soon also. Do you think someone who reads this wants to spot clean my rug?
Joan River's - throw sheets on everything and tell your company that the painters are coming any moment.

Leave your vacuum cleaner out. It looks like you were just about to clean or cleaning when they arrived. ;)

Hi,
Why not leave all of our modern day cleaning supplies out. That way someone will know that you are planning to do a major clean up
or
just simply say "It is the maid's and butler's day off and I am at a loss."

It's been so long I almost forgot this. My Grandma Annie used to pretend she had an imaginary maid named "Mary". When people would come over unexpectedly, she would call "Mary, Mary . . . where is that lazy maid." Then she'd ask people to forgive the mess and swear she was going to fire Mary. I was a little girl and really believed there was someone named Mary for quite a long time. My Mom and aunts used to laugh. They were quite a nutty group of women -- kind of like us! lol :joke:

Chel, I love that story. I think I will have a maid name Mary also. That is if it is ok with you.
