Slow Electric Precedent Club Car Golf Cart

We have a 2012 Precedent Electric golf cart that is really slow. We average 17-18 mph and as soon as we start to go up the slightest incline, it slows down considerably more. We have had the tires and batteries checked, but it's still the same. We were told by a golf cart repairman that we could put a different engine in which would speed it up. Has anyone ever done this and what were the results?

You may want to try 10 inch tires. They will give you another mile or two per hour. Unless you have an ac drive motor, almost all electric carts are slower up hills. I'm pretty sure Golf Cars are all dc drives.

EZGO has an AC motor. I have a 2014 with 10" tires and can climb a mountain at 22 mph. Being a 2012 Club I would go to an authorized dealer. Club car electric are excellent carts, highly rated and for a DC motor have plenty of torque.

I went to 10 inch tires in the rear and picked up 2 mph. The front does not have enough clearance for the 10 inch tires. It rides fine and with the same hubcaps front and rear you don't notice the two different sizes.

Could be the brushes. Have the brushes checked. That was wrong with my cart once. I don't know what the brushes are, but they are in the motor someplace. Your problem sounds like what I had.

Bigger tires will speed you up on 'FLAT' roads but you will actually lose some of your uphill speed due to decreased torque (power) with the larger tires. I have a friend who replaced the motor in their Club Car and it now goes 25mph and loses very little of its speed up hills. If you private message me I can give you their contact information.
