Hi,

I needed a new script filled. Called around to five local pharmacies that were part of my plan and in TV. Hope the following info is helpful to you.

I requested the cash price, gave the script name, dose and number of tabs needed.

Heres the results:

Albertson $242.07
Walgreen $230.89
CVS $203.99
Publix $192.95
Walmart $177.32

I suggest you check out the prices before you fill your script. I have a copay - obviouxly I went to the least expensive place.

HB - Just curious - If your co-pay is the same it really doesn't matter who you use, right? Except of course you might be saving your carrier some coin. But most RX's have much different prices for ins. companies than they do for cash customers.

Or is your plan a % of cost in which case there would be a direct savings to you.

Just wondering.

And don't forget that Publix doesn't charge for a certain number of days of antibiotics. (Will probably have more details about that policy tomorrow since Jess probably has strep throat.)

Russ, depending on the type of medication, what tier it is in, I pay a percentage copay. That is after I met my deductible.

I did not have enough time to mail the script in to the insurance company, that is why I shopped around.

Before I retired the most I ever payed was $5 or $10 copay.

Red, sorry Jess is still ill.

When you have the info on Publix - please post it. I would like to know what they are offering and if it is limited to who can receive the medication.

Please wish Jess a speedy recovery from us.
