Set your DVR recorder for Monday, Aug. 11, 9:00 pm ET, the Golf Channel (on Brighthouse, that's Channel 1154). The others, I'm not sure what spot on the dial.

The Golf Channel has a special at that time about "Golf at The Villages." Should be fun to watch. Not sure how long the show.

Be sure to tell your family and friends elsewhere, so they too can enjoy the show...and get a better feeling about what makes The Villages so popular.

This may have been shown before; I'm not sure. Tune in, and smile.

The info was also posted in the online news "paper". Wonder what they will show - A friend who is a starter told me there were almost 3 million rounds of golf in TV last year (championship & exec). Amazing!

I liked it, but the signal was cutting in and out during the segment (not sure if it is the weather up here in Michigan). Hopefully they will show it again and we can actually hear more of it.

Saw my neighbor in the front seat of the dragon boats paddling her brains out.
We nicknamed her Paddlin' Madaline.

I don't think so.

That number represents yellow medallion licenses operating in NY however it doesn't include the over 40,000 'cars for hire' such as black cars, commuting vans etc.
Anyway, 50,000 golf carts is an amazing number of carts. Can't wait to add my cart to the mix next year.

We watched it and loved it! We will be moving to the Villages from Omaha in 6 weeks and it made us even more excited to finally get there!

I do not understand why there should be any mention of Blechman's book, Leisureville, on a segment about The Villages. He is just another hack who is jealous that he cannot move to The Villages. His book lacked all credibility.

Anyhow, the segment was good. I did see a quick glimpse of me and my wife in our golf cart. Do I get residuals whenever it is shown?

I missed it. I ended up watching the reports of Robin Williams death on CNN and FoxNews. I remembered about 9:30 so I switched over and by 9:50 I realized I was too late.

Just watched the program on my DVR and then went to The Villages website to find the prices on all homes are up 10%.(I am joking) The developer just got a 10 minute ad on national TV for free.TV ads have been on the Golf Channel for many years and that is how I found TV.
The program was very positive about The Villages and I am sure many people will be during research on TV.

I suspect that in the interests of full reporting, they included him and his opinion. The show, in my opinion, did not push his side, they included it and cut away moving on with very positive comments. I am glad that I recorded the segment (thanks to the OP for the heads up!) and will hit the repeat button quite a bit until we are living full time "in the bubble".

Congrats to you and your wife on your "air time"!

I just can't believe the average age at 62 in TV. If (a) the supposedly minimum age is 55, (b) "most" people retire in their mid 60's, and (c) life expectancy continues to increase the numbers just don't add up.

Over 100 miles of golf cart path's was new to me.

I thought it was only 90. Still growing.

The best was the heading. "The Hippest Retirement Community".

I immediately put this link on my facebook page in answer to my friends back home who often say, "Now WHERE do you live in Florida?"

The only downer was Andrew Blechman. I am thinking about making a dart board with his picture on it.

I enjoyed the piece on Golf Channel, but disagree that the Blechman quote was in the interest of full reporting. I think it's more like lazy reporting. It seems that most articles I read about The Villages have at least one quote from this guy, which is the same chant over and over - the geezers don't want kids around and that's bad. On the plus side at least they didn't mention sex on the square.

Keep spreadin' the word. Maybe it will balance some of the negative publicity about us lately. Sinkholes, etc.

I have had to field Leisureville and its related "issues" regularly over the last few years. It seems to be an urban legend now for some. I watched the Golf Channel's segment and saw it as an excellent sales presentation. And as in all good presentations you must address an objection even if it just to mention it to remove that sticking point in people's minds. If you don't, your message can be lost. I felt that the segment addressed it as much (or little) as needed and continued on with its positive message. Very well done.

People retire earlier than you think, and many Villagers still work.

I retired at 55 and am now 62, right in the middle.

We also thought it was a great segment. Now I am sure more people will move here, especially since it is noted to be the fastest growing retirement community in America!

Kathy and I -- while watching the show --- felt so proud that we live in The Villages. It is a dream come true for us (we first vacationed here in 2006, but couldn't retire and move here until 2013).

The show was 8 min. long. Just wish they could have added 2 more minutes to show some of the housing being built. They probably did film it, but it got cut in the editing room (that's happens in the media business).

In advance, I emailed our family and some friends "up north" to watch this special. A couple of them wrote back and said they really enjoyed it.

All in all, we loved the show. I didn't know there was a TV Club for dancing dogs. Now I've heard it all!

They have vendors who actually go into the water and retrieve balls. Would you want to be one of these people who dive for golf balls into the water here!

The US census taken a few years ago had the median age at 68. It may be a little higher now although of course most of the new people moving to TV are younger than that.

Yes---thank-you for the link

I want to keep this video. It's not on Youtube. I do not have a DVR.

Has anyone tried saving the video in their computer or knows how? I see there is some software that may work but unless I am sure it is malware free I don't experiment. I have Windows 8.

That one particular show started our move to TV.

We just sat down and out of all the channels to chose, I turned the Golf Channel on and there was the show. We have a lot on a golf course in Bella Vista, AR and had already picked out our retirement home plans for there. The wife looked at me after the show and said "let's go visit there".

Now, we're the type to research everything to the nth degree, have a myriad of conversation's about it and then maybe, just maybe, move forward with it. I went to work the next day and about mid-morning, she called and said "we have reservations down there".

And so, the journey began. We made the trip and the wife cried like a baby when we had to leave; she said she has never felt as safe as TV made her feel. So, after about 2 months of looking at homes on thevillages.com, we purchased a home in St. James and will close on it later this month.
