I am open for discussion with anyone raising fourth-generation monarchs for the trip to Mexico and offering support, after several stressful expensive days searching for milkweed and hand transferring caterpillars. The good news is we had an explosive hatch here in the villages area.

The bad news is there is virtually no milkweed to be found. I do have one source for it and an alternative food source suggested by the villages butterfly club for anyone who's interested..please post.

looks like my place a few weeks ago. there's a little native plant nursery not too far down 301 that I bought some from last week. He has the native kind for only $5 a pot. I have three caterpillars on my lanai in various stages of growth.

Yes, that would be Allen at Shady Oaks...
It's a good year for the monarchs!

Didn't have a clue what you were talking about, so I Googled it. Amazing life cycle. Thanks for introducing me to that info.

Kitty,
My buddy in the MWEA (milkweed enforcement agency) wanted to know if I had your address. Just thought I would give you a heads up. He apparently monitors the internet for the words "milkweed and Mexico" in the same conversation.

Indy, thank you for a lighter moment among all the things that are going on here.
I could use some more milkweed if you could send me your buddies email address. I am not above giving bribes.
K.

I have milkweed. You can come over and get all you want! I don't have a single caterpillar, although I've seen monarch butterflies.

just send me a message.
