We have an Iris with white kitchen cabinets. One cabinet is the one with the wine bottle slots. I would like to switch it with a regular cabinet that doesn't have that. Has anyone done this and if so who did you have do it?

Call the warranty dept.
They will tell you who put your cabinets in.
Then you can contact them directly.

Hope this helps!!

It's a brand new home, and I know who installed the cabinets, but I was wondering if anyone else had done this. I think there is a choice of a solid door cabinet or a glass door cabinet but it is really expensive for 1 cabinet so I wonder if anyone has done this and if they found the expense worth it. Thanks for your input though.

I think if you don't like the look then call the company, change the cabinet. If it's too expensive then just live with it.

Really I was just asking if anyone else had done it.

We have an Iris and did the switch. Summers is the contractor. They did a great job and we are very glad we made the change.

Wall cabinets are only screwed together and screwed to the wall. If it is the same size it should be an easy job.

We, too, were interested in switching out the middle cabinet (two doors) of the stacked cabinets in our Begonia kitchen to doors with glass inserts. Our house was built last year so I called the Warranty Department who gave me the name of the contractor who installed our cabinets. The price to switch out this one section was $800. When I inquired about ordering only the two doors with glass inserts, the price was $600 but they pointed out that if we switched out the doors only, the inside of the cabinet is light colored and wouldn't match our medium brown cabinets. $800 seemed expensive for one section so we didn't pursue it. Does anyone have any suggestions for making this work so that it looks right? I could probably take these doors and get a glass company to put in the inserts but what could one do about making the inside match?

Exactly. Our estimate was $800. It's an end cabinet. Take one out, put one in. Obviously buying the cabinet alone and having someone else install it doesn't save much. At least I know it's the going rate, so thanks for that. Now we can decide if we want to spend that kind of money for 1 cabinet. Thanks again.

That is more than TWICE what we paid Summers for the exact thing you are wanting. They ordered the new cabinet and when it came in, they came over and removed the wine rack cabinet and installed the new one. Can't tell it was not here from the start.

Now, you may have more expensive cabinets than we do, which could account for the higher price.

Same here. Bailey Industries is the company that installed ours. Removed the wine cabinet and installed two door cabinet. We paid around $450, January 2014. And I thought that was a rip off. $800 Sounds way too much! But I am glad we did it. We are just not wine drinkers and felt the open cabinet was a dust collector.

It was Bailey's, so I don't know where they are getting that number from. The solid door cabinet is $700+ and the glass door cabinet is $800+. I'll contact them again and see what's going on. Thanks.

We just got an estimate to replace the wine rack in our new Iris for a cabinet from Summers. We were given 2 options.

1) remove the wine rack and put 2 doors over it that meet in the middle. This would give you the 1 tall shelf and the smaller cabinet above would not change $331

2) remove wine rack and the smaller cabinet above and replace with entire new cabinet. This would give you 3 shelves. $487

Which did you do? I'm wondering with option 1 if you would see a space in the middle where the doors would meet? I don't think they were talking about putting a center bar behind the doors.

I did neither because I have not been successful in any info from Bailey's who did the installation when the house was built. Your info sounds great. I'm wondering if your company can do mine, if they use, or can get, the same cabinet. I wrote above that the price they gave me seemed too high and I e-mailed the guy at Bailey's about that but he said his price is right. I can't get him to respond to my e-mails and he did not send the pic of the cabinet which he said he would do. PM me when you make your decision and let me know how it went. I'll let you know what we decide. I guess I should call them again.

We did option 2. Still have the original wine cabinet collecting dust in the garage. :)

I know someone that inquired if the woodshop could make about 12, fairly simple drawer fronts. They were told yes and the waiting list was something like 6 months.

Thanks everyone. I am going to give Bailey's another shot, perhap asking for someone in charge. If I don't get anywhere, I will go with one of the other options. I really want a new cabinet. The wine cabinet is a waste of space.

Can you give contact info on Summers please. Is he an independant contractor or works for TV.

Thanks

For the question of the glass on doors and the inside being unfinished, I would suggest that you consider painting the inside of the cabinet the color of your kitchen - as an accent. I would do this in a minute - its all the rage in the magazines. Looks great inside of bookshelves etc.

I gave the wrong information in my original post above.
I just came across my invoice for the cabinet replacement.
Done by Munz Design Inc.
$342.00 (Now I'm feeling good about the price!)
They removed and took with them the wine cabinet. Installed a new 2 door cabinet. This work was done December 2013, two months after closing on a new home.

Summers is a Villages contractor. I can't find my contact but I know we got their name from the warranty department.

Thank you. I'll contact both. I didn't get anywhere with Bailey's who installed the cabinets.
