Actually weather here in L.A. has been perfect!! Probably hitting 80 every day since Sunday and again today. Dry, sunny and absolutely gorgeous!!! I'm going to sit at my favorite restaurant today looking out over the Pacific Ocean and have lunch with some friends.

God, aren't we lucky!!!

Hi Sam, yes, we've been having perfect Spring weather but they say, maybe rain this weekend. But "they're" never right anyway, so I'm not putting too much into their predictions.

Yes, it is hard to leave Southern Cal. but its most important to me to be in a place that makes me happy and where I have many friends to do things with.

Every time I travel, I make comparisons to SoCal and think that I live in paradise and nothing else compares to it. But I realize, paradise is nothing without family and friends. Every visit to TV makes me feel like I belong and that's where I want to be, and seeing all you guys, assures me that I'm correct in my plan.

Have a wonderful lunch, celebrate St. Patrick's Day and I wish I was there to be the "hostess with the mostess". Love ya all, Kathie

Barefoot

Company visiting and stuff this month so I may not make the March 21, 2008 TOTV luncheon. Not sure when the company is leaving or when others may be coming. Kind of hectic around this house the past 3 weeks or so.

Back to Ma Kettle for my avatar. She looks like a librarian about to shush someone. :joke:

Hi, who is bringing the camera? Who has the name tags? Please let us know.

Kathie what you said about where home is, is very true. We will have to make a birthday list of all the Sistahs so that we will know when the "Hostest with the Mostest" can plan all of our birthday celebrations. I would be delighted to help with this.

As for gifts - party can be a pot luck and that is the gift for the birthday Sistah. As the number of our Sistahs grows we may have to get a private room at Laurel Manor.

Kathy I know that you are the shy retiring type, but with all of us around you, we will not let you be a wall flower.

Love ya all lots,

Sistah HB

Village Kid will be bringing name tags. She has graciously done this for every luncheon. :#1:

I have advised the floor manager at Crispers that we will be there. There are always peeps there with cameras. See y'all Friday at 3 PM. Hope the weather is great, it is fun to sit out on the patio.

Barefoot and Kiddo and others:

After the February meeting, 07 and I commented to each other that since we had left quite a mess for the staff to clean up, that maybe we could give the help a little tip for their effort in cleaning up. I noticed that it took them about 3/4 hour after we were gone to get the outside looking neat and clean for the next guests. This was just a thought and I'm wondering what you think about it.

Thanks, Kathie

Isn't Crisper's policy "No Tips"?

KathieI
03-18-2008, 08:08 PM
Steve, you might be right, never thought of that, but it will be a nice gesture because we sure did leave a lot of work. Well, maybe Kiddo or Barefoot can find out for us. It was just a thought.

Kath,

I had no idea we left a big mess. Definitely we will check and if they are to pick up we will leave a tip (if allowed). If we are to pick up, we'll take care of that too.

Thanks for being a good steward for TOTV. Look forward to your return, hopefully in April (?)!!!

I had asked about tipping when we were there the last time. It turns out Crisper's is owned by Public and tips are a definite no-no. It's a shame. Those kids work hard. Guess we should make it a policy to leave things as clean as possible when we leave, including putting tables and chairs back in order.

BTW -- It turns out I did find a service at 11 am on Friday, so I should be able to make it at least for a little while. ;D You guys just can't get away from me.

Kiddo - we weren't really that bad, like we picked up trash and stuff but I overheard some grumbling from the staff while they were putting the tables and chairs back and sweeping up. It may have been more about management than us but 07 and I just thought it would be a nice gesture if we're allowed to tip. But if not, I think our picking up a bit might be a help.

Sorry I'm missing March's meeting but April seems a possibility cause the flights are so cheap, I cant understand why. ::) Hope they're planning to use fuel in the planes?? :dontknow:

See ya soon, I hope. Kath

I just wanted to make sure that you're not counting us as one of the 4 new people coming this Friday, Sam. We've love, love, love to be able to join you all - but we're not there yet. Can't wait to see the pics again. If you all only knew how I run to my computer every nite, to see what you're all talking about, on TOTV. I hope you did the same thing when you were wannabees, too. I'm surprised to read the comments about tipping at Crispers. :dontknow: I often have lunch or dinner at Crispers. I always either leave a tip on the table for the wait staff or hand it to them. It never occurred to me not to tip.

KathieI
03-19-2008, 01:59 AM
that's so nice Barefoot. Since they do deliver the food and clean up the tables, I think that's a good idea. Wonder if they really have that rule about no tipping?

K.

03-19-2008, 02:11 AM
Kathie, I asked the manager why there wasn't a tip jar. He said that Publix owned it and did now allow tipping. If any employee was caught accepting a tip, they would be fired on the spot. Tips are to be turned in and Publix does something with them -- he didn't know what. He was a young kid, but seemed to be pretty definite about it.

PM (Marcia),

The first time you attend the lunch or any TOTV event, you will be so ecstatic to meet all these people you will feel like we have felt, like we knew each other all our lives...

Marcia

JohnnyM
03-19-2008, 02:56 AM
Now that Marcia mentions it, I have tried the chat room and can't believe how fast people can type. I thought they were talking and the computer was typing via one of those software programs. How are you all so fast? I would like to chat but feel I am too slow. What's the deal?

KathieI
03-19-2008, 03:06 AM
No, no, no, no, no!!!

We love slow typers in chatroom. They tend to slow us down to where we can read what we just typed.... Also, we need some good spellers, cause we can't even understand some of Handie's typing....

Starting in May, I'll hold typing classes in TV and you'll all become as good as the fastest typist in da bronx!! Meeeee!

 Kathie

Hyacinth Bucket
03-19-2008, 03:13 AM
Hi - join Chat Pack. If you can not type fast do not worry - you will notice the sentences are usually not long. At times, there are more than one conversation going on at the same time, and different chat packers will join in. After a while you will be able to follow.

Must admit, we all get lost sometimes in the chat room. There is always room for one more, so pull up a chair and just join in.

We are a very friendly welcoming bunch of people - some of are wannabees and some are newbees and some have been living here for awhile.

Looking forward to having you join us. Shy Kathie will give typing lessons in May.

See ya all'

Redwitch: So glad you are going to get to go to the luncheon after all. Have a great time.
Can't wait till the April luncheon which I will be attended. Yippee.

About Chat, if you can't type fast, better reason to go on chat. Practice makes perfect. You get to practice eye/hand coordination: looking at the screen while finding the letters, that way, you don't miss anything. Try it.

I am so sad to miss my friends today, last month was such a blast. I'll be crying all afternoon, maybe I should take a Xanax too so I'll sleep through it all. Great, Tal!!! Looking forward to seeing you again.

Sorry about the TMJ (that's what we call it out here.) Have you tried facial massages (some dentists will do it for you) or hot compresses or anti-inflammatory pills. They all work. I had a very severe case about 15 years ago and finally got it fixed. Very painful thing, had to wear a mouthpiece to stretch out the temporomandibular muscles again. It worked though.

Try all the above, and good luck. See ya in April... Kath

Thanks. My jaw has popped out since I was a teen. Just gives me some pain occasionally. Just seem to have to weather through it.

My wife used a night guard, sort of like a football mouth protector, for about five years and it finally eliminated her TMJ problem.

Thanks, chuckinca. My dentist back in Oldsmar, FL had recommended something like that. It is only really bad a few days a month though. I think the dentist said the cost of that contraption was around $1100???

My wife is a Dental Hygienist and gets those type of things at wholesale prices.

I believe they have to be special made to fit your mouth and teeth, so they are probably pricey.
