We live in an Amarillo and want to replace the clothes washer and dryer. It seems the door clearance going into the garage from the laundry room could limit the size of the appliances. Did you replace your machines, and if so, with models?
Thanks.

....can you provide the exact model number. Sounds like you swapped the original location of the dryer and washer. Is that correct?

Anything should fit. Washers are always on the left. Which one is near the door will switch for houses that are a mirror image.

We were in for a surprise when we replaced ours, NO not everything fits. The newer models are deeper than the older models. I did not want small size ones and we bought the Kenmore Elite front loaders. they barely fit, had to use a flat connector for the dryer and we just barely have clearance have to hold the door knob in when opening and closing and we put a rubber bumper strip on the drive for hen we forget. We originally ordered top loaders and the depth was to deep but the installers from Sears didn't know what they were doing and did not suggest the flat dryer connection for tight spaces. Take measurements ! They planned very poorly when they built these models.

Ours was built in 2007 and our dryer is on the LEFT also.

Ditto!! Our dryer on left also. If you want more cabinet space, and don't mind having washer & dryer in garage, you can set it up by sink in garage.

We have friends with an Amarillo and they put their washer and dryer in the garage and turned the utility room into a pantry and storage, looks and works great for them.

Yes, our dryer is on the left which didn't make sense to us. One of the first things we did was reverse the dryer door. When we replace, we want to put the washer on the left. It seems several of the new GE appliances will still fit that space. I sometimes think these houses were built around GE stuff. So we have carefully measured the existing space and studied the specs for the models we are looking at.

I have never seen that before in any house. That is just strange. Front loaders are made with the doors opening towards each other assuming the washer is on the left.

We have a Gardenia and it is pretty tight but fits. We have Kenmore front loaders. The door on the dryer can be switched but not on the washer. If the washer is on the right then moving clothes from the washer to the dryer would be inconvenient. I can't believe they have it reversed in some houses - no excuse for that.
