Back home in Rooster Poot two of the holes on the country club golf course were adjacent to a public road that ran down to an area of mostly oil field related businesses. I got used to the roughnecks driving by and showing how clever they could be by blowing their horn or yelling "FORE!" Oh, the pride they must have felt regarding their original and creative thought.

I had forgotten all about this hilarious example of hazing until yesterday.

I was addressing my putt on the second hole of Walnut Grove when a golf cart with two fellows in it drove by...heading north on the multi-modal path that runs from Springdale Pool to Mulberry Grove. As they passed by, one of them yelled, "Don't F##@ up!" Of course this was followed by much self-appreciating laughter and knee slapping. I was a little tired, and when I tried to wave at them to show my approval of their world class prank, I was only able to muster up one finger.

I don't really have a conclusion to add here except that I was totally taken by surprise. Never expected that to happen here. If they are reading this...fat chance...I took your advice and lagged up to a foot for a tap in par.

It was so odd, that all I can figure is that they thought I was someone they knew.

Normally my 93 year old father is nothing but a gentleman, but he had us rolling on the floor recently when he responded to some political jibes at a family dinner with a back-handed, finger wiggling wave. He said: "You know what this is?" No, Dad, what? "Five of these"..... (figure it out....) If you weren't so tired, you could have done the same.
