Anyone have a personal recommendation for "the best" Chinese restaurant for both dine-in and take-out in our area?

We haven't tried any Chinese in the area, but we had a wonderful meal at the Japanese steakhouse on Sumter a couple of weeks ago. Also we've found the meals at Thai Ruby in Sumter to be absolutely delicious.

Chinese Gourmet in The Colony Plaza is wonderful! But they don't deliver. :(

The wife and I just had a terrific dinner at CHENG"S in Buffalo Ridge. The restaurant is a couple of doors down from The Big City Diner. Great Hot and Sour soup, and our entries were excellent. Service was above average for here in TV. This was above and beyond any Chinese restaurant I have eaten at since I moved from MI.

Is the Chinese Gourmet a sit down restaurant or more like a take-out? I'll have to try it.
I love Chinese food.

MFP...

Funny you should ask.... I had takeout from there tonight. It is both sit down and take out...but sit down is small and not private (people coming and going all the time). Very tasty and very reasonable...I can get 2 full meals out of one $7 combo dinner. They have a $5 lunch deal too.

Cheng's is wonderful. We, personally, like it much better than the one in Colony Plaza. My husband, a fried rice fanatic, raved about the pork fried rice (which is served with all of the meals), saying it was the best he'd ever eaten.

I love hot & sour soup, and theirs was excellent. I also had the vegetable egg roll, and it was so full of delicious fresh veggies. My main course was the shrimp with Chinese vegetables. The shrimp were perfect, and the veggies were plentiful, very fresh, and cooked to perfection.

I hope someone rates the sushi...

I went to Chengs in Buffalo Ridge today. I had the Bo Bo Platter for 2 - very good and SO MUCH food, that I took half of it home. I can't wait to go back so I can try the Peking Duck and MooShoo Pork. This is the best Chinese restaurant in the area (I'm from California where great Chinese food is available everywhere). Lots of choices from the extensive menu too.

The best in the area is Sky Asian Fusion in Ocala. It is located on the top floor of the Holiday Inn at the intersection of 75 and 200. It is a bit pricey and it is probably best to make reservations. The service is top notch and the decor makes eating there a true experience. I have had their orange chicken, orange shrimp, duck, tuna, low mein, sweet and sour pork and their fried rice. No where else comes close to any of these dishes. They also have mixed drinks.

I see they also have lettuce wraps...yum.

Going to try this place out next time I'm in Ocala.

Thanks!

Has anyone tried Beijing Gardens on Bichara? I want to try their buffet one day.

It's just typical, run of the mill....nothing special in my opinion, zcaveman.

Thanks. Neither was the predecessor.

I went to Siam Orchard the other day and had the fried rice. I don't think the Thai fried rice is a good as a Chinese fried rice and want to try a new place. I like the Chinese restaurant in Mulberry but they are not really a sit down restaurant.

I guess I will opt for the buffet at Beijing Garden just to check it out.

I will let you know what I think.

I agree! They are the best in the state.

And SKY is coming to The Villages this year.

I agree, if you like takeout or very limited seating, go to Colony, but if you want to sit then go to Cheng's in front of Walmart (Buffalo Ridge). Although their dinner prices are alittle high, but lunches are comparable to most .

From a retired restaurant owner, Chinese Gourmet in Colony is doing things right -- they also have a place in Naples and Estero -- menu is on line at < chinagourmet.us > Good food, good service, fair prices and big variety of combined Chinese cuisine on menu -- try it, Lucko
