Folks in cars should be careful when traveling Buena Vista southeast-bound between the Bridgeport Rec Center / Palmer CC and the entrance road to Lake Sumter at Bridgeport Village:

I've frequently seen a number of deputies there, with at least one, possibly more, radar guns. Late this morning there were at least four deputies, and they were writing up tickets for three "bad guys," while the fourth aimed the gun for more culprits. An hour later, as I was headed back, they were still there, writing up another three tickets. I assume they'd written up a good many tickets in that hour. Bill Farmer will be happy! ;D

Fortunately, I was in my golf cart, doing perhaps 18mph. So, the deputy who aimed the gun at me turned out to be more interested in the automobiles! A Good Thing!

I see them there rather frequently whenever I am travelling south on Buena Vista towards Lake Sumter Landing from around the Laurel Manor Rec Center area.

They do this quite often. They park at our entrance and go stand out in the median. You might assume they are gardeners. Wrong!!!

I've been known to wave hi to them. One actually waves back. My favorite though is the young one who glares at me. Guess we old folks are all too dumb to know a speed trap when we see it.

They were doing a land office business this morning at the entrance to Bridgeport at Lake Sumter....2 cruisers and 2 moto cycles all with customers.

Call it what you will, I am all for it. In a community where most of us are retired, there is no need to get there 2i.2 seconds sooner.
Therefore, let's have more speed traps....the more the better until such time as people slow down.....Florida's Friendliest Hometown.....unless they are behind the wheel.

I wish citizen's arrest was a viable process here, so we could turn in license numbers and volunteer to witness at the trial........

Recall that at 60 miles per hour one traverses one mile per minute.....soooooo....to go 10 miles per hour over the speed limit of 35 for maybe 10 minutes.....gains you what????

Hopefully a speeding ticket.

Just what is wrong with slowing down? You are right nothing!!!! Go get em Sheriff!!!!!

BTK, I'm with you. I do not speed in TV. There's no where I have to be that quickly, and if there is, I leave in time. This does not include emergencies.

GOOD!! glad they are there!!! I was having a discussion the other day with someone who said 'you know, with the mandatory cutbacks in general government spending, the one way cities and counties will make up some revenue, is to write more traffic tickets". So, seems like good might come in more ways than one. Government spending cutbacks, and, eventually, maybe writing more tickets will someday get people driving safer.

Speeding in any town makes no sense. You have traffic, traffic lights, kids, animals. Here, we have people who really shouldn't be driving, people who are clueless in a roundabout and golf carts. Yep, go get 'em sheriff. But I'll still wave hi to them. ;)

We always have the speed trap around the Polo Grounds on Buena Vista. Sometimes it is one cop on a cycle and sometimes it is one in the median with the radar gun and two or more cops on cycles. I go 35 on cruise control.

Lately they have been hiding on Aztec Circle catching the golf carts running one of the four stop signs within a 500 yard distance. Stop and count to three and then go.

Personally instead of catching the stop sign runners, I wish they would go after the over 19 mph carts.

They also like to sit at the Santo Domingo gate on El Camino. Usually, they're writing their reports or bsing there, but I've seen the radar guns out at times, so you never quite know which is happening.

They spend a lot of time under the trees at Lake Miona Municipal Park as well (by the boat launch). Must be a lot of speeders over there.
