Last year, I submitted a request to the kind hearted folks visiting TOTV, for the gift of yarn which I use in a Prayer Shawl Ministry. One very generous lady (regular poster, here) gave me an enormous bag of mixed colored and different thread, yarn. I've made 9 shawls with some of the yarn- shawls used locally, and one which made it all the way to Brazil as a gift to hosts for visiting volunteers on a Missions Field. Such generosity was greatly appreciated, and the most amazing thing, is the yarn I was unable to use in the original bag, is now destined for Nairobi. It will be used for crafts and as a teaching tool for children learning how to use a loom. Weaving will provide a skill set and a way to earn a living, for some fortunate children. What a blessing, all the way from The Villages, to those less fortunate than ourselves. Don't want to be "preachy" but felt a heartwarming story deserves its place in today's rather sad world.

A nice story, Shrandell. Thanks for sharing. Our church in Muskegon, MI, has a great prayer shawl ministry. Can you tell us how you got that extra yarn to Nairobi? I'm sure the knitters there would be interested to know.

Thank you, CFrance. First Baptist Church At The Villages on 42, (left turn onto 42 from BuenaVista) has a drive for the Baptist Convention to Kenya & World Harvest Missions. All gifts can be donated at the FB Church At The Villages - there is a large box in the main foyer of the beautiful new yellow and white Church building which faces 42. In addition to yarn, the request is for crayons, and popsicle sticks. Thank you, in advance for any donations made. Sandra

bkcunningham1 - Agree with the "many, many wonderful stories" - Its an outpouring of love from the ripples caused when a pebble is tossed into a lake. Paying it forward, or random acts....

All the volunteer and charity work in The Villages impressed us during our two-week rental in December. And the assembly line for stuffing and packing gifts for the military would have made Henry Ford dance with delight. Something like boxes for 1,000 troops put together in about an hour. Time study people should study The Villages doing their thing for others! We'll be back for three months in January, renting again, for another look at the most amazing senior complex in the world. Can't wait!
