The people in St. Louis and Ferguson just dont really understand how bad they are hurting them selves. I wouldnt visit that area for nothing. 1960's race riots all over again. They never learn.

That is a rather big brush you are using when you say St Louis. My daughter is 25 miles from Fergerson and she is in the greater St Louis area and not experiencing any difficulties.

I second that - my daughter and fam, incl 2 grandsons live in University City, just west of STL.
This 'situation' could have happened in Ocala or Akron or ANYWHERE else in this country.
Personally I am distraught. What?... 40+ years and we have gained NOTHING in race relations. Always seems to be a boil ready to pop. Just as this one did - hair trigger - blame game.

OK I'll say it, if the Officer was black or the 'victim' white, no news. But....nope, and the media - makes the BIG story. They go out there like vultures. A shame. If the cameras would leave - and the cops leave - it would calm.

I really have a lot to say about this but better stop - I know the Moderators are hair-trigger too. enough said.

I'm not slamming most of the people in that area it's just that when someing like this happens the people that are rioting don't really understand just how bad it hurts the area, and hurts them in return. People will judge an area by what the few will do.

There are more shootings in Chicago but its also larger. I go to St Louis several times to see baseball and its perfectly safe. It's safe in Chicago, LA, Atlanta, NY, Orlando, Dallas and most large cities.

Sure, there are areas of any American city you don't want to travel in. St. Louis is no different. Poverty and unemployment sparks high crime all across the America. Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis could be "anywhere America".

Does poverty and unemployment spark high crime or does high crime encourage poverty and unemployment?

Do slums make slummy people or do slummy people make slums?

If people are paid for not working, will they want to work?

I a cop shoots an unarmed man 6 times, should we be concerned?

If cops in your town don't live in your town, does one think they feel same ownership for civility in that town.

None of this justifies the looting and damage to businesses in the area, however, peaceful protest is an American right concerning what one some perceive as transgressions.
